grayton info

Will be in Grayton in a few weeks for annual vacation (the best week of the year!). We always stay on Cottage street, and want to branch out and do a few new things this year. Can anyone recommend a canoe rental place...we'd liek to explore Western Lake....would also like to rent bikes.

And.....are there any publicly accessible tennis courts in the area?

We rent bikes and kayaks from the Grayton General Store (corner of 30A and DeFuniak Street/ CR 283), within walking distance from cottage street. If it's a canoe that you want, we do have one in our fleet. The State Park also rents canoes.

You may also want to try fishing, which of course we can also help you with.

I believe Tennis courts have been discussed before and none are public in SoWal.

New Yellowfin is the place to go, and depending on your needs, you might take them up on a kayak rental rather than a canoe. I own both and can tell you that unless you are in protected waters around here, the wind will tend to blow you around in a canoe. The sit on top kayaks are much easier to get around on, and are great not only for the lakes and Bay, but also the Gulf. Either way, the owners of Yellowfin are grayt people and be able to hook you up no matter which you decide to rent.
