Monday morning smell of smoke ???

Just thought I would start a new thread on the smell of smoke throughout SoWal, that is very prominant this morning. The sky has that yellow haze as the Sun shines through the smoke/cloud cover. Could this smoke be from the rain hitting any remaining embers? Perhaps the high humidity is holding the smoke low to the ground?

Radio was saying that people have been calling in asking about the smell - apparently it is from other fires/old fires.

Smell is very disconcerting!

Channel 13 news and the Weather channel both say the wind will be from the East today and tomorrow, and that what we're seeing and smelling is coming from Tallahassee.

Channel 13 reporting 500 acres burning in Callaway..is that the smoke we see/smell?????

Thanks for the timely post. When I went to take the dogs out, I had a moment of panic. It smells really strongly of smoke out there.

Just drove thru all that on my way to Jax and back, thru Ga from TN. It does stank.

Apparently there is a large fire in Bay County and another one near Tallahassee. I10 is closed between Tallahassee and Jacksonville.

Did this fire begin in GA and spread down there

There's a note on the Daily News web site saying it's likely the smoke from the Bugaboo fire near Lake City. The winds shifted overnight, and the smoke that had been going as far south as Miami is now going west towards us instead.

Unfortunately the weather forecast doesn't predict any more than isolated thunderstorms for the next ten days. Even my Mexican sage is dying, and it's drought tolerant.
