Best route from Montgomery to Blue Mtn. Beach?

We've been to the panhandle for the past several years and are always trying to find the best route from Montgomery. We're coming from KY and usually travel through Alabama via Birmingham and Montgomery. Is taking Hwy. 331 from Montgomery a good idea or should we stay on I-65 making our way over to I-10? We're traveling with small children and need to get there the quickest route.

I'm sure you'll get 100 or more different routes, but here's what I take...

331 into Troy, AL. Go south on 87 to Elba, AL. Turn right on 189 (Reese Rd) and take 189 until it dead ends into 52 in Kinston, AL. Turn left on 52 and go about 9 miles to Alabama hwy 153. You will see a sign for DeFuniak Springs.
153 turns into 83 at the Florida line. Take it to DeFuniak and turn right on 90. Go to the bottom of the hill and turn left on to 331. From there, you should know where you are.

Let the flood of directions commence!!

Quincy, We come from Mid TN, we found it a little quicker to pass Montgomery about 50- 60 miles, staying on 65 S until the Georgianna exit. Make a left on 106 about a mile. Take a R at 2nd stop sign onto 31S which turns into 55S. Follow signs to Andalusia, then onto Florala where you pick up 331 S all the way to 98. Make a L on 98 and turn R at 1st light where the sign points to Blue Mt. Beach

We usually follow 65 into Montgomery and then pick up 331 south. This way we get to stop at Durbin's Farms for fresh peaches.

What she said X2. It is the quickest route. Georgianna is Exit 114.
