Property Appraiser Visits?
Anybody else in PW get a visit from the Property Appraiser?
I refrained from engaging him in a discussion of how you determine value when nothing in our neighborhood has sold in almost 2 years. Seems to me that our "market value" ought to drop to at least below what everyone is asking, since it is clear that that ain't the right price!
Why in the world do we get reappraised every year, anyway? Seems like in Georgia it was 3-5 years.

Re: Property Appraiser Visits?
I think he paid all of us in your/our neighborhood a visit. I don't really understand it either considering nothing new has been built in the subdivision. I would hope our values would have gone down but isn't there a 3% cap on the amount they can increase our assessment if its our homestead?

Re: Property Appraiser Visits?
The guy was checking for accuracy of existing properties and searching for new additions. My guess is that they know this is the year of a tax revolution and they are trying to justify squeezing out every penny.
"Oh, I see here that you enclosed the open deck to make and extra bedroom and bath." That is going to cost you extra."

Re: Property Appraiser Visits?
All areas in the county get physically inspected periodically, especially when there is new construction.
With three (four?) subdivisions actively happening in PW and two more on the drawing board
, I have a feeling they will be trampling our bushes pretty frequently.
