    Cantina Laredo

Has anyone noticed how terrible the service has become in Cantina Laredo since their staff they brought with them for the opening has left?

I think the food is very good, but the service is the terrible. Last time I was in there, I sat at the bar. After the bartender disappeared for about 15 minutes I finally got his attention and ask if chips and dip were customary.

    His reply was, "Sorta".

WHAT does that mean? Sorta if you like me? Sorta if you want to go get them? Really, what kind of answer is that?

I sorta made my way outta there.

If the restaurant is more than 1/4 full the service staff seems unable to keep up. I agree the food is still really tasty but I find the service nearly unbearable. Managaement needs to train better. Another pet peeve...the one avocado guacamole..it started off at two.

The service has become "no-service". I do love the layout and the food. The patio is great.

I have been to another Cantina Laredo in Louisiana and the service is outstanding. The other one is owned by an investor group, with the managing partner having over a decade in the TexMex restaurant industry.

Anyone know who owns this one? I am sure they would want to know that a bartender is replying "sorta". I would have paid cash for my drinks/meal and tipped him a quarter. Said bartender would "sorta" be fired if I was the owner.

It is owned out of Dallas. After my experience with the "sorta of" bartender, I sent an e-mail to the home office.

I received a reply from them with an apology, and they said they were sending it to the restaurant here.

After a couple of weeks, I wrote Dallas again, and got a reply, "I don't know why the local restaurant has not contacted you. I will send it again".

Still no reply...... I guess they don't care...

Except when the wind is blowing from the north and you can smell the sewer treatment plant located just yards away.

Well - it is a chain. Chain usually = mediocre food and decent service but around here there are not enough servers to go around.

The food is OK there but nothing to leave 30A for.
