Re: mind blower...
i really don't see how anyone could think it is spinning counter clockwise.

Re: mind blower...
I kept thinking the computer was changing it making me question myself. Then, I began to change my perception of it, and control which way I wanted to see her spin. Rather cool. From some Right Brain, Left Brain test which I used to take, I usually was about 50:50, give or take one or two. From what I understand, the vast majority of people are very much one side or the other. I was just fascinated with the computer generated aspects of the movement, being either or.

Re: mind blower...
SJ, that's awesome. I wish you had sent that before I finished writing my paper on hemisphericity...
Jessifunn, you really really have to want it to go the other way. How I did it was by watching her outstretched hand or foot. When it is on your right, imagine it going behind her instead of in front. It's 2-D image, so she really isn't spinning either direction. The hand, foot, and ponytail all just go back and forth.
But even with that, I usually end up seeing her going back and forth with her back to me. (Sometimes I even see her top go one way and the bottom another. That's just weird.)Life doesn't get any better than this.

Re: mind blower...
Try this. Close your eyes for a few seconds. Now visualize her spinning clockwise for a few seconds. Really see her spinning clockwise. Now open your eyes.
Close your eyes again, and for a few seconds visualize her spinning counter-clockwise. Hold that image for a few seconds, then open your eyes.
Did that help you see the change in direction. I find it amazing how much our mind can influence what we think we actually see.

Re: mind blower...
For a second she was going R, then she just turned and I can only see it goin' L now, even when I try what you said, NoHall. Hubba can only see her goin' R. She switched again for me but then switched back L. Very
illusion, SJ.

Re: mind blower...
I can do it without closing my eyes too now. I just focused on looking at the center of her body and switched gears. Interesting.
Uh, now she's gone. Maybe she went to have a late night snack.

Re: mind blower...
Wow ... I've tried and tried and can only see her spinning counterclockwise. I have tried to get my "logic" to make me see her going the other way and no luck. In fact, I can't even imagine how she could be going clockwise! Probably because I lack imagination, being completely left brained and all.

These kinds of things are fascinating to me, because the older I get the more I believe that almost everything we are and do relates to how our brains are wired ... even the subtle way we react to things or how see different aspects of a situation. I think that environment (ie learned behavior) plays a part in who we become and how we live, but "wiring" explains SO much. If more people understood this I think we would all get along a lot better.

All the above seem like me w/ the exception of math and science. I was always too analytical and still am. Math and science were above average until college. Pretty interesting -----I have tried closing my eyes, visualizing, and I still cant see her going clockwise.

Re: mind blower...
OK this is so freaky! I stared at it long enough that it did switch directions for me, but I can't figure out how to will it to make a change. I look at it and I ONLY see 3D, because my brain is really good with patterns, but then I read in another blog about someone saying when they read text it goes counter-clockwise. So when I was seeing it go clockwise, I started reading something, and it shifted counter-clockwise.

Then I started thinking about my powder room decorating project (right brain-creativity) and IMMEDIATELY the dancer started spinning the other way. Freaky! I can't get it to change simply by staring at the foot. I have to change what I am thinking about.

Re: mind blower...
TFT...okay, I am freaked out now, too. I just looked at her again and she is going counter clockwise....everytime I have ever seen this test she only went clockwise for me. This is a trick!

P.S. Before I looked again, I had just folded clothes and matched socks...maybe I used that left side!
P.P.S. Disregard this post...I am so confused.Last edited by Miss Kitty; 11-27-2007 at 08:27 AM.

Don't feel bad Kitty. I am trying to figure out what part of the brain I am using when I see her fall.

OMG! It does change if you visualize it spinning the other way, but I had to try REALLY hard - that is TOO freaky!

I cannot get her to go any way but counter-clockwise. So this means I use my Left Brain? My whole perception of myself for my whole life has been based on fantasy if this is true!

Re: mind blower...
Holy cow!! She was spinning clockwise and then all of a sudden she was spinning the other way. Don't know how I did it. Wow!
Just because you eat the burger doesn't mean you want to meet the cow!

Oh man this is freaky. I can make it go back and forth at will.
The trick is to follow her leg around.

Re: mind blower...
The right-brained characteristics describe me pretty well and I defintely see her spinning clockwise. However, h I was finally able to get her to spin counterclockwise by focusing on her standing foot.
I can't wait to share this with my family. It is really interesting. If you are lucky enough to live by the sea, you are lucky enough.

Re: mind blower...
I can only see her going clockwise no matter how long I stare at her or where I stare (I tried staring at the foot and the shadow). But then again I only stared for a minute so maybe it takes longer. Anyhooo, where did you find her, SJ? Is there an Internet link? I'd like to show this to some people and see what they do with it.
I am right brained based on the description, which describes me well.Last edited by Paula; 11-27-2007 at 11:44 AM.
