OK, so he's not the only one. Let me ask this...do you make your wife go back in forth between the channels that are HD and arn't just so she can see the difference in quality? EVERY NIGHT? (Honestly, he gets mad if I say I can't see a difference! Sometimes I do it just to see him have a fit!

I have 3 remotes for the tv stuff. However, I programmed my cable box remote to control everything, so I don't even break the other remotes out of the cabinet. Answer - I use only one.

In our family room, we also have 3 but like SJ we programmed the DishTV remote and control TV, VCR, and the cable with one. Unless we play the "Scene It" Jr game (it requires a DVD) and then we have to break out the other 2 to control the TV input and....never mind

In our AV room in the basement where we have the big TV and surround sound system, we have 3/4 and we need them all because the Dish remote can't do everything and the AV receiver remote can't either so we just use anwhere from 2-4 depending on the media we are using.

oh, ktchris...I feel your pain! We have a room that I call the "Penis Room"....HUGE TV, pool table and about 300 hundred remote controls. I have never been able to learn how to turn that TV on!!! My daddy loves that HD...my husband is not in to TV that much, but man, PawPaw does that back and forth thing too...I just grin and say..."wow, that's quite a difference!"
I picked the control with the fewest buttons and had the Direct TV guy program it for me! Boys love their gadgets...watch out now!

I did the same thing and I can't ever find the damn thing. (I have a 16 month old little boy who likes to run off with it.) One day, somebody is going to put a button the tv you can press and the remote starts beeping like the phone will do.
I know I don't get there often enough,
but God knows I surely try

So I told my husband, This is stupid! We have clappers to put lights on. and "Help I've fallen and I can't get up" necklesses. Why doesn't someone put a beeper on the TV so, when you can't find the control you can just press a button on the TV and a beep could go off to find the remote control! He looked at me and said : that is the stupidest Idea you ever had. Well, little to say RCA come out with it 5 years later...

3 - TV, VCR, and Bose HE system (+ one each for tv's in bedrooms) - thankfully, I don't do cable or dish boxes or I'd have more.

Brother bought a fancy "universal" when he added a Sony ceiling mount HDTV projector to his "entertainment area". Last I heard, he was periodically spending a fair chunk of time reprograming it (using the 4 remotes it's supposed to "replace" ).

There's a plus to multiple remotes - I usually find some spare change in one of the couches or chairs while rummaging around for the appropriate remote.

I am so glad you said that Sueshore! I thought I was the only one in the world who couldn't figure out how to use the remote. I HAVE figured out how to turn the TV on and off but I'll NEVER figure out how to watch movies. It's too complicated for me! When my husband goes away on business, the kids have to do the VCR for their mother. They roll their eyes and wonder how they got such a technophobe for a parent.

Yes my friend...and my bike has two "gears"...stop and go! When I pick out anything, I get the one with the fewest dials, buttons, switches, computer chips, etc.!!!! Really simple...simply real!!!

Unfortunately, I am the techno person in the family. I am the one who knows how to hook it all up and which controllers work. My other half has still not learned how to turn on the D**N TV, DVD or cable box without assistance from MOI! It drives me crazy! I mean he does get through the day without me, right? (On second thought, maybe not!)

What's a remote control? Almost everytime we walk into our house at Seagrove, there's a missing one. How do guests lose our remote controls? I just don't get it.

I think you should get your guests used to getting up to change the channels. I have seen people stir their coffee with remote controls. Just another item to lock in the owner's closet.

It's sad to have to resort to that.
