Turn Signals
Is it just something about people on vacation or who live in Florida, but why does it seem so difficult for people to use a simple turn signal!!!!!
Some people act like they must be the only people on the road.....

I don't know, but I am starting to wonder if certain cities have rules against using a turn signal as I am noticing a pattern................

Re: Turn Signals
I was CUT off so LITERALLY this a.m. on the way in to my office; the SUV just swerved in front of me; NO TURN INDICATOR NO BRAKES NO PHYSICAL LOOKING BACK....AS I HONKED FURIOUSLY, I literally had to slam on my brakes.... We were neck and neck at the stop light and I looked over and he snickered and shrugged his shoulders like ->

After memorizing his tag number I dropped back a 1/4 mile and followed; (ironically his parking garage is across from my office) So I entered my office; wrote a professional but
naughty love note
(for this particular 14th of Feb) walked across the street and affixed it to his windshield....

Re: Turn Signals
I am unlearning bad habits brought with me from Atlanta. If you intend to lane change up there you have to keep it a secret until you can pounce! Give no warning or the a$$ next to you just tightens up. I got my first ticket in 300k miles this morning.

Re: Turn Signals
If I am on the interstate I will not let people merge if they do not have a signal on, otherwise I do not know they want over. Don't get me wrong I won't run anyone off of the road or provoke an incident, but they can just travel safely behind me if they do not use a signal.

Re: Turn Signals
I whine about the drivers here ALL the time. I can't even count how many times I've been on Stadium Dr here in Tally and some kid will just change lanes without a blinker or checking their blind spots. I always used to say that if I didn't love my car so much, I'd just let them hit me. It'd be their fault.
But apparently it's an issue all over cuz my dad and brother complain about the same type of thing going on in the DC metro area.Jean Lorein 10.10.1917 - 1.8.2008

Re: Turn Signals
Tallahassee has that special blend of idiots (students, out of town lawmakers, and lobbyists). It has been a problem for years. The funny thing is that the lobbyists and out of town lawmakers are the worst. Nothing like a self important senator/representative in an SUV running you off the road.

Re: Turn Signals
My teenager was driving me around on 30A yesterday. One guy almost hit her as she turned in to parking lot at Seaside. It was her turn to go, she had signaled, began her turn and he pulled on out of the parking lot onto 30A and nearly into the side of my car.
Then in Watercolor at that 4 way stop a car on 30A went, it was my daughter's turn to go and turn on to 30A but instead, the range rover which was behind the last car to go barreled on through...She had her cell phone to her ear so maybe she forgot that stop signs mean....well, stop!!
AND THEN... my poor kid was tailgated all the way to blue mountain beach. She was doing the speed limit of all things on 30A.
Talk about good defensive driving training!

Re: Turn Signals
People (most especially teens and the elderly) are in a state of hypnosis while on cell phone's; it is truly dangerous. I complain about teens and the elderly on cell phones constantly; our fine in OK inattentive driving citations are $$$$$$$$; There is a bill being passed to outlaw teens and cell/texting....

Car Crashes and Cell Phones
In December 2005 the NHTSA and the National Center for Statistics and Analysis released the results of their National Occupant Protection Use Survey (NOPUS), which found that in 2005, 6 percent of drivers used handheld cell phones, up from 5 percent in 2004. The survey also found that the jump was most noticeable among women (up to 8 percent from 6 percent in 2004) and young drivers ages 16 to 24 (up to 10 percent from 8 percent in 2004). The percentage of men using cell phones rose from 4 to 5 percent over the same period. Finally, the survey found that the number of drivers using headsets rose from 0.4 percent in 2004 to 0.8 percent in 2005. The NOPUS is a probability-based observational survey. Data on driver cell phone use were collected at random stop signs or stoplights only while vehicles were stopped and only during daylight hours. See also Cell Phones and Driving.
Cell phone distraction causes 2,600 deaths and 330,000 injuries in the United States every year, according to the publisher of the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society.

Re: Turn Signals
The rule at the 4-way stops on 30A must be that whoever has the biggest SUV goes first. This is particularly true at Grayton Beach.

Re: Turn Signals
Driving thru downtown Atlanta on rush hour not long ago it suddenly occured to me that in major metroplitan areas, putting on your blinker, signalling your intentions, is actually a "sign of weakness" by some other drivers who take glee in letting you know by that very act they have control over you, that you can be dominated easily by the jerk who actually speeds up just to not let you in. You have a better chance of changing lanes BY NOT USING YOUR BLINKER AT ALL!
Lots of pent up frustration out there -- road rage is an outlet for a lot of people!

Re: Turn Signals
When I first moved here, I wondered if turn signals were illegal in the state of Florida.
I've learned to be a very defensive driver, but my blood pressure skyrockets every time I get behind the wheel because I get so pissed off at stupid people not paying attention. My Road Rage has increased exponentially... I just know how to keep it to myself most of the time.
(There was the one memorable time in Virginia when I flipped some guy the bird... and then he proceeded to chase me at 70 MPH down a very curvy 45 MPH back road. I managed to lose him, but chalk that one up to a lesson learned.)"The day will come after mastering the winds, the waves, the tides and gravity, that we shall harness for God the energies of love. And, on that day, for the second time in the history of the world, man will have discovered fire." ~Pierre Teilhard de Chardin

83 is the worst intersection, I see at least one person a week blow right thru that 4 way stop.
