    Jasmine Thai Restaurant

this is a new find. and it is a treasure!!! uncle timmy and I just happened to meet at the new Jasmine Thai Restaurant (we thought it was another restaurant that used to be there). It's located in the Destin Commons Publix area, in the Pier One shopping center. It is some of the best thai food I've had in a long long time. and btw, the royal orchid is still very good even after new ownership (they had a period of time where the meals weren't that consistently good - but our last several meals have been great).

however, I think I found a new favorite thai place. the spring rolls were crispy and delicious (not out of a package like thai elephant). the thai fried rice with fried shrimp - oh so yummy! uncle timmy had a giant bowl of some kind of soup (thai hot) he ate every drop. I brought home a ton of food to go - including yellow curry with chicken and potato - divinity!!! can't wait to try more of the offerings.

It used to be the Indian restuarant, then was a Japanese place for about a year. One of those restaurant spots of doom, I guess.

But we'll now have to give it a try because it would be so convenient to our house.

Yes- same place. I miss the Indian food. But I am looking forward to trying the Thai.

Could it possibily be the same owners? The Indian menu also had some Thai and Chinese dishes on it.

This place was most recently Nims. We stopped in for the menu when we were in Destin, but didn't get a chance to try them. It seemed nice - glad to hear a great report!

Thanks Tootsie...I am always looking for a great Thai place. I've been disappointed in the Royal Orchid since the change, but still go there. I also love the Thai Elephant located about across from the McDonald's on 98, next to Tuesday Morning. Have had really good Thai here. Thanks again.

I tried it out today. They had nam pla prik available to spice up my coconut soup- I loved that. Their peanut sauce is different than I prefer though. I really, really like Thai Elephant also, that soup was souper good and really good satay. Royal Orchid's soup was waaay too sweet.

you know, I hear a lot of good reports on Thai Elephant. We are total RO fans, but just can't do the elephant. the spring rolls are awful - and that has to be really perfect in a thai restaurant for me.

I'm just glad we have all this thai going on around here! forget chinese. just can't do it anymore. but changs is very good if not really chinese.

We tried it out tonight, and will be making many more trips back there- good food, reasonable prices, and close to home. Talked to the owner, and they were somehow connected to Royal Orchid back when Royal Orchid was good.

really? I wonder how they are connected. I know donna (previous RO owner is in FWB at Daddy's BBQ & Thai - it is so delicous its hard to even tel lyou how delicious it is).

the Jasmine Thai Rest was the first one since my association with Donna (Royal Orchid owner from many years ago), that was so wonderful and delish.

I must say though that RO is still very wonderful even if different. It is outstanding.

Jasmine Thai Restaurant gives us another real wonderful place to go and enjoy thai food too. thank you!!! and please stick around. we really really really love you. we cannot live without you!
