I hear Panama City Beach is about to have a similar ordinance. Somebody is going to make mucho dinero retrofitting those condo towers to meet the standard. Still, I think it will be worth it as this small investment will help the sea turtles...not too mention skunkapes who love dark skies

For everyone who has been or will be complaining about the cost of changing out lights if and when an ordinance ever passes, you should know that the county has known it would need to do this since at least 1996. When the '96 Comprehensive Plan was adopted, it contained a provision that said a sea turtle lighting ordinance would be adopted. It even gave a date, but by the time the plan was adopted, the date had come and gone, so it was struck through. If everything built since '96 had had to comply and older properties had gradually changed over, the cost would have been less and the retrofit would be over and done and we would all have adapted. Well, nearly all. Some people will never adapt, I guess. All this stalling has been a huge waste of time, money, energy and turtles.
My two cents.

Bright lights, especially bright ambient lighting at the beach is another thing I find as ugly as big blue signs. Can someone who goes to this meeting, please give us an update to the results?

Not so fast. It appears that very few are happy about that ordinance so let's watch and see how that one plays out before we all start a new lighting business.

I mean it...are you saving all these for the book?
