Seagrove Stop Light
Okay, the Seagrove stop light. I have noticed an inability of people to understand what this light means. It is amazing. I am from Louisiana and we historically do not come to a full stop when no one else is present. But I noticed something different here.
People do not go in order. While riding my bike on the bike path there, I always control my speed to coincide with what the cars are doing so I speed up and cross at just the right time so as not to inconvenience anyone. Well, as I was returning from Seaside, I watched closely as I rode and was timing my speed. A car, third from the front, coming from the Seagrove area, ended up following the cars ahead of it, with no concern for the car that was suppose to go for two turns. And the car that wanted to go was not being overly bashful, they were edging up like they wanted to go, but...
This is a common thing that I see there at that light. I understand that traffic can be frustrating, but come on. I also have never seen so much traffic at that light since moving here Feb 30th. I assume people rented through today and are leaving before the full weekend because there was a serious exitos.
Not to gripe, but someone shot a bottle rocket, from a second story place in Seagrove, toward me as I rode the path.

There's a stop light in Seagrove? It wasn't there last Sunday.

I think he means the three way stop sign. I think people 'get it' for the most part. Those who don't almost always can be seen yakking away on a cellphone.

I have a sign in my car that I use for such an occasion. It says, "GET OFF THE DAMN PHONE AND DRIVE!"
Or I beat on their hood if I'm not in my car.
The thing is, at that intersection if you strictly take turns based on who arrived first, it doesn't make sense. For example, if someone is going east on 30A and in the process of turning left onto 395, there's no point for the southbound driver on 395 who is turning right onto 30A to wait for the westbound driver on 30A because the vehicle turning left onto 395 is blocking the westbound driver from entering the intersection. Might as well get one more vehicle through the intersection.

I agree with you in this scenerio. I actually think that is just good driving and I totally agree that in the scenerio you present, that is advisable. It would keep things running smoothly and not be as frustrating. But that is not what I've witnessed at busy times at all. Some people just seem like bullies. It was three westbound cars turning toward Publix today that went out. It was like they just used the momentum set by their predecessors to go ahead.
All is good in paradise though. Just an observation.

My office used to be on that corner and I witnessed just about anything imaginable. What kills me are people on vacation, in such a rush, that they honk their horn at the driver in front of them if they (possibly) miss their turn to go at the stop signs, or seem to not be quick enough.
My thought was; Relax, you are here....isn't that what you came for????

I remember a rumor a while back that the county was considering turning that intersection into a round-about. Is that true and is it still on the planning boards? IMHO I don't feel it's the best, most people don't encounter these a lot and it seems that things would get worse.

The stop light is only present on Feb 30th of each year. Probably why you have not see it.
The BCC did get a study done that spoke of doing the roundabouts but was going to require people to voluntarily donate the needed land, after paying taxes for years, I do not believe that this will happen. But maybe they can meet on April 31st one year to discuss it.

Roundabout anywhere on 30A = Cluster in the first degree

Can you imagine how bad things would be at that intersection if they had built Hotel Viridian! Does anyone know if that is still in the works?

There is no way in hail you are going to convince me that people who can't figure out how to 1) stop 2) alternate at a stop sign can manage a roundabout!
Roundabouts suck!
