I now love Alys Beach
Ok if I have not mentioned this, I have been planning a late 2006 trip to Italy and Greece with my best friend. We will visit the Italian art cities and the Greek Isles, staying in Mykonos while in Greece over the 10 day span. The brochures just arrived and my friend and I talked about the trip tonight, and now I am loving Alys Beach. At first the concept of the white stucco buildings did not appeal to me. Now that I compare the architecture of Mykonos with the pictures and renderings of Alys, I cannot wait until things start to boom in our new town.

Re: I now love Alys Beach
Just remember, Greece did it first!

My husband likes Alys Beach as well, he has been there but I have only seen photos.
The most favorite trip I ever took was Italy/Greece. (Had been to Italy before, but never Greece.) We took a ferry from Venice to Piraeus (Athens.)
BSmart, can you share your itinerary? If it includes Crete, I have a tiny little mom-and-pop museum I would like to recommend.
Santorini is one place which for me lived up to all the hype. The caldera is utterly breathtaking.
The Greeks we met were all lovely, friendly people.

Re: I now love Alys Beach
Alice...for that kind of money you have to change the name to look fancy! Actually, it is named after a family member.

I will give you another reason to love Alys Beach. They are sending a large contingent of their construction crew to a town in Mississippi to build several houses for displaced people, at their expense. In fact, I think they are there right now.

I am not affiliated with Alys Beach nor do I own property there, but am fortunate to now call them(the Comer's) my friends. They are one of many reasons that we love South Walton County.
