Re: Local Cnn Hero Needs Your Support!
Good luck to Aaron, I voted again.
His story really makes you stop and think about what is important in life instead of the pettiness we all deal with on a daily basis.

What do you charge for hosting "regular" websites. We only do video hosting (www.flvhosting.com - and www.h264hosting.net ) so would pass some "regular" pics and text hosting on to you, we like to keep it local.

Wow! HUGE story about Mermaid Arts' son and the work he is doing ...
... in yesterday's St. Petersburg Times. I just got around to reading. I did not know about this young man, Aaron Jackson, though he has been posted about here before.
If you don't know, he has dedicated his life to helping the children of Haiti through his Planting Peace organization.
This is an awesome feel-good story and worth a read even if it weren't for the local angle.
Inspiring activist Aaron Jackson and Planting Peace go to Haiti to deworm the children - St. Petersburg Times
Proud to practice indoctrination
at least when it comes to the GATOR NATION

Hi Wendy,
I was going to PM you this but then thought it was just too cool to not share...
I was on the phone this morning with my cousin from Los Angeles. We were involved in a very deep philosophical conversation about life because we are both at our life's crossroads with respect to our careers.
So my cousin says to me that the reason he hasn't accepted an offer to move to Chicago to make millions (and that he continues to struggle doing what he is passionate about) is because he was inspired by a Florida kid who moved to Haiti and is saving lives.
So I interrupted him and I said, "John, I know his mom".
He thought I was messing with him. So I sent him the link to this thread and we were both blown away at what a small world we live in.
Wendy, my cousin asked me to share this story with you and to ask you to remind your son what an inspiration he is to the rest of us.
Cheers, GLast edited by Geo; 10-13-2009 at 10:15 AM.

Planting Peace puts down roots in Miramar Beach | peace, planting, puts - Local News - WaltonSun.com
Aaron Jackson and his Planting Peace organization have been featured on CNN several times — and Jackson has even been nominated for Anderson Cooper’s CNN Hero award.
Previously headquartered in South Florida, the organization and its founder have now come home to South Walton.
Jackson grew up in the Destin/South Walton area, playing golf at Burnt Pine with his grandfather, Chick Grant.
Jackson could have chosen many avenues to explore in the hunt for a career, but he went with his natural inclination — to help those less fortunate.
“I think I was always like this. It’s only common sense to help a hungry person out,” he says....

this is wonderful. such an inspiring young man. We are all proud he is back "home" again. I predict we will continue to see great things from him and so many will be inspired by his example.
A people that values its privileges above its principles soon loses both.
