Angels among us in a little blue truck

You know, just about the time you have lost faith in humanity, someone comes along to find it for you.

Today my dear friend Patsy (some of ya'll have met her) was heading back to her home in Tuscumbia, AL from Birmingham, which is over a two hour drive. If you read my post earlier, in the Tropical Storm Fay report, you know that it was raining here so hard today it was coming down in sheets....that sideways kinda rain.

Bless her heart, she got almost to the second exit and had a flat tire! She pulled over and almost started to cry. She placed a call to the State Troopers (*hp here) and waited. They are supposed to come out and put the flashing light truck out there so no one will run you over.

After about 20 minutes she decided she better go back to her trunk and move the luggage she had in there to her back seat. She gets out in the rain & wind is blowing so hard it blows her umbrella inside out. Interstate 65 is the only north south corrider through Alabama so you can imagine the traffic. About that time a little blue pick up truck pulls up, young man jumps out and offers to help. He said he never leaves someone on the side of the road. He promplty changes Patsy's tire in the pouring rain, will NOT take a dime from her. She is asking him to please take some money, he jumps in his truck, smiles, waves and drives off. She promplty got in her car and started to cry.

So, the next time we think about how horrible that person was in the glittery orange truck that waved a gun at the cyclist, remember the guy in the little blue truck.

Glad to hear she is safe and an Alabama angel found her, they do exist. I met one on a very lonely, dead cell phone area, outside of Enterprise, Alabama once with a flat tire also.

Sweet older man and his wife on their way to Walmart turned around came back to help me change the tire. And then followed me into Enterprise to show me where the local Goodyear store was.

Awwww...yay for Patsy's angel. I'm glad she was well cared for.

There are probably more nice people in trucks than there are nasty ones. The nice ones just don't draw attention to themselves as much.

I love hearing stories like that. People like him are what keeps this world from falling apart.

My 2nd cousin died doing just what that young man did. He was changing a tire for a stranded lady on the Causeway over Lake Pontchartrain when he was hit by an 18 wheeler It really is a dangerous thing to do and it says a lot about the person who volunteers to do it.

This reminds me of one of my favorite country songs, "The Chain of Love" by Clay Walker.

I'm so glad a kind soul came along and helped Patsy. I'm sure she won't let the Chain of Love end with her.

BB, I'm glad someone helped your friend, but aren't you one of the people always telling me not to give a ride to people who run out of gas, or is it Mermaid I'm thinking about? It gets confusing when y'all gang up on me sometimes. I've been helped too many times to not stop and help someone in need of assistance. It really shouldn't matter if we are late for work, or if it is pouring down rain. People are always needing help, regardless of the weather and time of day.

One of my good friends from northeast Alabama whose father was a pediatrician was coming home from work late one night, stopped to help a disabled driver, and was killed when a car ran off of the road. If you knew how busy that stretch of I65 was you would know just has dangersous this was.

I don't know that song, but I will be sure and listen to it.

Nope, not me. I'm glad there are such generous souls out there.

I'm pretty sure that nice young man was just driving through. Any self-respecting Alabama native son would have a RED truck!

I always appreciate a random act of kindness. I'm trying to become better about doing more of these myself.
