Thread: Thanks to Mark Davis - Fiscal Conservative

  1. Thanks to Mark Davis - Fiscal Conservative

Thanks to Darrell Barnhill, Sharon Roberts. Bill Laird and our own "Fiscal Conservative - Mark Davis" forreversing course and voting to keep the school millage rate at last years rate rether than the proposed increase from thw Supt.

Mildred Wilkerson was the lone board member that voted against the "right thing" to do at this time.

Her vote sealed the deal for me on a choice for the next school board member - Vote for Robert Nelson.

For everyones enlightenment dont worry - none of the cuts came from operating funds..

Correct. Even the Teacher's Union did not speak against the cuts. The identified sources were land purchases, none were planned but the monies were there, and fixtures, furnishings, and equipment for the new Walton High School. Mr. Miller was clear that there were quite a bit of these items in fantastic shape that could be moved to the new school. It was a great meeting to see how just about everyone came together and figured out a way to make it work for the good of the taxpayer.

Please, no more canned calls about who voted for what yesterday......I admire someone who votes their conscience despite the potential to lose votes.

I didn't "reverse course." I voted against the millage rate increase when it was first proposed back in July or August and suggested then several ways the board could reduce the budget in order to leave the millage where it was last year. Fortunately, a majority of the board agreed with me this time.....

  7. No Mr. Davis you did not personally reverse course, nor did Mrs. Roberts, but the "Board" did.

Bask in your recognition you deserve alot of credit for your leadership.

I will take all the canned calls a candidate cares to make, if they point out someone that votes to raise taxes at this point in time. It is unexcuseable and cannot be explained away.

I will not vote for any incumbent that raises my taxes at this time.

You are right, the board as a whole did change course. I am happy with the budget we passed and the millage where it is. Thanks for the kudos.
