That ref sure looked like he wanted in on the action. It really didn't look like that was real though. If it was, thats nuts.

wth was he thinking? wonder what the two players were saying to each other after that?

"I knew LSU has the home-field advantage, but damn..."wonder what the two players were saying to each other after that?
I watched it over and over again, trying to decide if it was simply the camera angle making the ref appear to be tackling rather than avoiding the runner or another player, but it certainly looks like he reverted to his own athletic career when throwing that shoulder. Maybe that player had be spouting off to the ref all night, and this was his revenge.

I actually heard that official was a linebacker at Kentucky back in the day.

as Kurt said it's real. He looked like he lined up, took postion and took the player on. It was on Mike and Mike this morning and they showed the replay during the game.

I believe it was planned last year during the national championship game.

Wonder if anything was done to the ref due to his actions??? It's still hilarious. The South Carolina QB didn't think so though.

The same ref stood in the way as an LSU linebacker tried to cover an SC receiver on a pass for a major yardage earlier in the game. SC might have even scored on that play. It was for major yardage at the very least. Apparently this ref just doesn't pay attention to where he is in relation to the players.
And concerning the reason the ref "tackled" the SC player. Everybody knows if you stand still when something big is coming at you, you will hurt much more than the person hitting you. So you hit back in an attempt to protect yourself. The ref didn't want to get knocked on his ass, so he pushed the player.
At least that's what Les told me to say.

I'm going to NOLA Friday and I'm gonna find that ref and take him to Mothers for a Ferdi's Special and then dance his ass off at Tipitina's Friday nite and he will be in no shape to get in Knoshown's way on Sattiday aft when my Dawgs come to play!
I don't know just what you heard, but 'come on baby' are my favorite words
