    MEET THE FOLKS BEHIND THE FOOD: Southern Foodways Photography Exhibit in January

    MEET THE FOLKS BEHIND THE FOOD:
    The CAA and The Seaside Institute present the Southern Foodways Alliance Traveling Photography Exhibit with opening reception on January 3 at Great Southern Cafe


    The Seaside Institute and the Cultural Arts Association will present the traveling photography exhibition, Meet the Folks behind the Food: the Southern Foodways Alliance Oral History Initiative.

    The Southern Foodways Alliance, which is an institute of the Center for the Study of Southern Culture at the University of Mississippi, has collected over 300 interviews for its Oral History Initiative. This traveling exhibition, curated by SFA oral historian Amy Evans, is a showcase of that oral initiative and offers visual introductions to the people behind the food whose work celebrates the diverse food cultures of the American South.

    The collection will be exhibited throughout the month of January at Great Southern Cafe' at 83 Central Square in Seaside, Florida. All are invited to an opening reception on Saturday, January 3 at Great Southern Cafe' from 5:00 - 6:00 pm. Hors d'oeuvres will be provided, and a cash bar will be available.

    The Southern Foodways Alliance is an institute of the Center for the Study of Southern Cultureat the University of Mississippi.
