    Recommendations for Oyster Po Boys

I'm in town for several days with my family. My wife loves oyster po boys and I wanted to surprise her with her favorite food.

Where can we get a good one in SOWAL?

Also, any suggestions for fish tacos would be appreciated.

    Seaside Tacos

Taco store in Seaside has fish Tacos, if you go to Great Southern and ask Jim Shirley he may make an oyster po-boy special order for you. Both restaurants are in seaside

we had the shrimp/oyster po boy and blackened fish tacos from hurricane and both were great, but we haven't been to many other places to compare.

Hurricane can provide you with both and they are both excellent.

The Taco Bar in Seaside can do the fish tacos and they are wonderful as well.

Flip-flops grill in Seagrove is also a good choice. (hint, the owner is a coon-ass)

True, but their lunch doesn't start back up until next week.

Does Stinky's have one? If they're open right now, it seems like something they'd do well.

I agree. We went there today and had po' boys. Yum! I had a Cuban sandwich -- it was awesome.

Seagrove Market has a good oyster PoBoy. I've had a lot of them, nary a complaint. Same sandwich at George's, if you're farther east. And I can second the recommendation for Flip Flops' PoBoys.

I'm sorry, but after my experience at Senor Mojitos tourist trap I just can't bring myself to recommend it to anyone.

    hurricane oyster bar

They have the best fish tacos in the area! Always consistent and fresh. Also the poboys are good too!

I took on a head-to -head po' boy battle this past weekend. Half of a sandwich from each establishment - Flip-Flops v. Seagrove Mkt. The Mrs. ate the other halfves.

    The verdict:
It was close, both were great. But SGM's had better slaw and more oysters. FF's bread was better, but the nod goes to SGM.

BTW- I had been craving a FF hot dog for several weeks, but the end product was not as good as I had hoped. The burgers were outstanding though.
I'm shovel-ready and too big to fail

    Shades Po'Boys

With fresh oysters and incredible bread this po'boy stands on it's own with the competition. Open all year round too.
