Way to go 30-A in South Walton and Walton County!
-
I hate to break it to everyone, but we don't have the only 30-A. It's any alternate route to Hwy 98. Front Beach Road is also 30-A. Of course I shudder when I realize this.

If Southern Living's survey responders and list makers don't realize that the best 30-A in the world is in South Walton, Walton County, we need to do some marketing. I've been to some of the other 30-s, and they are no equal to South Walton's 30-A. I think Southern Living survey takers need a geography lesson. We need to teach them about the Beaches of South Walton and just where those beaches are and what they are named! We have a few reporters that could use the same memo. Many are doing better about naming Walton County beaches. Best in the world!!! The secret is out.

The Editor in Chief for Southern Living is John Floyd. He hired me to build him a home in Rosemary Beach. He knows a lot about 30A.

The article specifically notes that the Scenic Highway 30-A that they are referring to is "between Destin and Panama City" and mentions Seaside, Rosemary Beach and Grayton Beach. I think that is enough info for the readers to figure out where it is. And I wouldn't Shhhhh them, we need all the tourist dollars that we can get right now. Maybe they will have pity on us and buy some the oversupply of real estate.

30-a
Once upon a time, I got real tired of hearing such a beautiful stretch of road called the mundane "30-A" and dreamed about re-naming it something better. The best name I came up with was "Eleven Lakes Road". I know the politics and logistics of so many businesses changing their names would probably prevent this. Sigh...
