Thread: Love Is Not An Act

  1. Love Is Not An Act

"Love is not an act; it is a state of being, it is vertical. When you look at a person and participate with no judgment - of either beautiful or ugly, or of good or bad, sinner or saint - when you don't judge but simply look into their eyes with no judgment, suddenly a meeting is there, a merging of energies. This merging is beautiful. This beauty is totally different from all the beauties that you have known. You have known the beauty of the form; this is the beauty of the formless. You have known the beauty of the body; this is the beauty of the soul. You have known the beauty of the periphery, this is everlasting." -- Osho

These are the most gentle dogs. God bless you both.

I stood by your bed last night, I came to have a peep.
I could see that you were crying, you found it hard to sleep.

I whined to you so softly as you brushed away a tear,
    "It's me, I haven't left you, I'm well, I'm fine, I'm here."

I was close to you at breakfast, I watched you pour the tea.
You were thinking of the many times your hands reached down to me.

I was with you at the shops today, your arms were getting sore.
I longed to take your parcels, I wished I could do more.

I was with you at my grave today, you tend it with such care.
I want to reassure you that I'm not lying there.

I walked with you towards the house, as you fumbled for your key.
I gently put my paw on you, I smiled and said, "It's me."

You looked so very tired, and sank into a chair.
I tried so hard to let you know, that I was standing there.

It's possible for me to be so near you everyday.
To say to you with certainty, "I never went away."

You sat there very quietly, then smiled, I think you knew...
In the stillness of that evening, I was very close to you.

The day is over now ... I smile and watch you yawning,
And say, "Goodnight, God bless, I'll see you in the morning."

And when the time is right for you to cross the brief divide,
I'll rush across to greet you and we'll stand, side by side.

I have so many things to show you, there is so much for you to see.
Be patient, live your journey out ... then come Home to be with me.

I have buried too many beloved pets in my garden, to be forever home. On one very sad occasion, it was a cat. He had a very nice funeral, then I went to the house and took a nap. Later that day, the very same cat that had such a lovely funeral walked around the house and meowed! I had buried the wrong cat!

    you'll always remember the feeling

  38. Again, we want to thank you all so much for all of your kind and thoughtful words. It has truly been heartwarming to receive so much love -- much of it from people that never even had the opportunity to meet Smoothie or the 2bohemians.

But we would be remiss if we left out Dr. Amy Williams & her staff at Kindness Pet Hospital -- for knowing just what to say at the right time to say it and for the genuine love and compassion they showed to all of us. When we looked up the definition of Kindness on the web, it said:

    • the quality of being warmhearted and considerate and humane and sympathetic

This couldn't be a better description! Their care certainly lives up to its name.

We would also like to give a shout out to Ed & Rachel at For The Health of It in Blue Mountain Beach. You can't ask for better people than the two of them! They were there for all 3 of us when we needed them most.

And to Dr Jason Marquardt at Parkway Animal Hospital in Niceville --- for giving Smoothie back her super legs after torn acl injuries in both legs.

And to Dr. Margaret Fowler, for the wonderful acupuncture treatments that helped Smoothie find her "zen".

We are very blessed to have such wonderful souls in SoWal!

Thanks to all of you from all of us!

My beloved Lab Nemo left this world when I was still a child and still I miss him every day. We wandered, adventured and ran together through the forest. He protected me from harm, rolled with me in the damp cool moss and swam with me in the cold streams. I can still see him bounding down the mountain path chasing my sled in the snow. While I have loved others none could ever take his place. I hope that all of you know such love at least for a brief time. Life is so fleeting and we are all just passing through to the other side. She was a beautiful creature your friend and I pray she has a safe journey home.

Girls, I'm so sorry I missed this thread earlier. Your tribute to your beloved Smoothie was so right; dogs are all about unconditional love. And no doubt she had it returned to her in abundance. My heart aches for you in your loss. Peace.
