That has to be incredibly intoxicating to hold that many people in the palm of your hand. Muse is hugely popular in Europe and has started to gain traction here. They are opening for U2 on their current tour. That will open a ton of doors.

When I first started listening to them, I would have agreed with your statement above, but now, I would have to dispute it. Christopher Wolstenholme, the bass player, is a machine. I've been working on their song, Hysteria, for a while and wonder how he gets through that whole song without crashing. What most don't realize is that he is also playing a synth triggered by his bass and doing back up vocals through a synth as well. They are trully a sum of their parts, and I don't know if they would survive if one left.

Here's a great one of the guitarist, Matthew Bellamy playing piano...

    "No, I don't skinny-dip. I chunky-dunk."

thanks for posting the link. I knew he played piano too but hadn't actually seen him play.

I'll have to admit, my son is the one who introduced me to Muse a year ago. On our long drives into Chicago once a week for his cello lessons, he'd have me listen to Muse. I immediately fell for their sound. Once in awhile i'll hear a Muse song on Chicago radio but it's always one of their more popular hits.

They will absolutely blow U2 away, imo. (sorry U2 fans) I've been to concerts 30 years ago where the opening band was by far the best!!

I agree about C. Wolstenholme and I will give his sound a little more attention the next time i listen to muse. Hey, i think i will right now!

I'm listening to this, which is why I can't sleep. I have a ticket to see Ellis Marsalis at Snug Harbor Friday night, and I'm all a-tremble over it. (Thank Gawd I don't have a ticket to see Harry. I'm not sure if I could fit a defibrillator in my purse.)

My Daddy was from Bob Wills country. Every year in Turkey, Tx, they have the Bob Wills festival which draws many a retiree & travel trailer to the area to listen and dance to some badass fiddle playin for a week. We played this song at Daddy's funeral.

Ever since I saw a new post "Trailer for Sale" I have this song going through on a loop in my brain!

    Trailers for sale or rent
    Rooms to let...fifty cents.
No phone, no pool, no pets
    I ain't got no cigarettes
Ah, but..two hours of pushin' broom
Buys an eight by twelve four-bit room
I'm a man of means by no means
    King of the road.

The documentary of the Beatles was really fab. I feel so fortunate to have grown up with their music in my life.
My mind tends to wander... but fortunately, it's so weak, it doesn't get very far...
