Foster home for black lab mix

THIS sweet young about 1yr lab mix dog is such a quiet wonderful kid who gives you her paw when she gets close is looking for a foster home. She is in the Chipley animal control shelter but would be processed through Alaqua Animal Refuge if we can find her a foster home.
Alaqua took in 5 new dogs this weekend and do not have room to quarantine her for 2 weeks, which is protocol when taking in under 1yr old dogs. I visited her in the Chipley dog pound and she is as sweet as she can be and scared to death. Her outtake date is Aug.12th-Wednesday, and the SAD SAD thing is she will probably be put down very soon if no one wants to foster her.
this is her page on www.dogtime.com

What is the purpose of the quarantine????
Puppies both carry and are susceptible too a wide variety of diseases. Parvo in particular can kill every puppy in any facility within a matter of days and then getting it out of the facility is a nightmare. Even something as simple as ringworm can mean life or death for an animal that needs to be "adoptable" in order to remain alive.

Every animal control facility should quarantine puppies -- to protect the puppy itself, and to protect the other younger animals in the facility. Sadly, though, most animal control facilities do not quarantine. Usually for lack of space. Sometimes for lack of education about the benefits of quarantine.

Although it is my opinion that animal control facilities need to practice the a philosophy of better and best when dealing with protocol --although it's BEST to quarantine all young animals under one year, if you're slammed with puppies at a given time (it happens), it's BETTER at that time to quaraintine them in groups by age than it is to simply put them down just as a precaution. I'm not familiar with the Chipley facility so I cannot say if they are practical and adaptable when it comes to protocol. Many facilities are not.
