There was a sign up for "pygmy goats" on 331.

Yeah just north of Putnal's Pine straw on 331, there's a barn and those goats are the cutest little things! He had a sign up to sell them but haven't seen it lately. They've been keeping the woods clear for whatever reason but I sure enjoy watching them (when I should be paying attention to the road!).

  4. sweet! thanks guys! i've got a lot of help and info on goats around the area today.

You might want to first, check with your local gov't or HOA to see if you are allowed to have animals such as goats on your property. There are laws against it in many places and earlier this year, an elderly lady in Defuniak was take to court over her two goats which mowed her lawn, and she lost!

my exboyfriend's fraternity had a pet goat that lived at the fraternity house. poor goat, i can only imagine what they would do to him.
i think goats have the sweetest faces. my mother has said for the longest that she's going to have pygmy goat one day.

Also, always always bring them into a barn or other shelter at night in these parts. There's some sicko that's slaughtered pet goats over there for years and has never been caught. Never know when he'll decide to go roaming eastward.

Definitely an important first step before making such an endeavor, which we have already done. :)

This thread reminds me - One of the Atlanta stations ran a story on "outlaw" chickens not long ago. The news report brought to light the growing popularity of backyard laying hens in restrictive subdivisions which ban the keeping of barnyard animals. My husband teased about getting a rooster to tick off a neighbor whose dog barks ALL the time.
