photos - Seaside beach pavilions - 4/20/05
http://www.sowal.com/photos-042005.html
I'm working on additional photos and virtual tours of each pavilion in Seaside, to put in a special section on the website. Today was a beautiful day to get some shots, but the water is still not completely clear.
Also check the photo gallery for a few more shots of the beach and dunes, new sea oats.

Great pictures Kurt!
I check everyday for new ones. I love it that you post them so often. I can't wait to take some of my own. Do you think it will be too hot to rent bikes in August?

I take it you mean early in the morning? I'd love to come in June like last time but we just have too much going on not to mention the drop in price.

I hear the TDC pays for your shirts with the Beaches of South Walton logo, but that is it. If they have a position paying over $150,000 per year that you think would suit me, by all means let me know. Seriously, I have thought of volunteering there, but I am not currently ready to do so. I think they provide a great service and the bathrooms are nice.

:laughing1 August is hot in Ohio too! Normally we have 85-90 degree days. We'll be tanned already since we go to the pool all summer so I'm not too worried about the sunburn. We'll still use our sunscreen. The last time we visited we did burn a little but it was in June before any of us were really tan.

I've been here long enough to really acclimate, and I still try to get my biking finished up by 11am during the summer. It really isn't the heat, it's the humidity. I did a race last year where one of my bike rackmates was saying he was just back from Saudi Arabia, and he felt worse here than he did there with 120F heat and 5% humidity. But the other 10 1/2 months here more than make up for any late summer discomfort, IMO.
What I'd suggest is an early morning breakfast ride. Get up with the sun, get riding, and pedal over to one of the cafes open for breakfast -Hibiscus Coffee in Grayton, WaterColor Market, Modica Market in Seaside, Summer Kitchen in Rosemary Beach, etc.- and enjoy a really nice meal. Then grab an extra drink to go, and enjoy exploring some more before it gets too warm. It's what all the local roadies tend to do when the weather gets cranking.

That is so fabulous! You have no idea what you do for us that are not fortunate enough to be there.

The Pelican was blown off by Ivan. It will be replaced, but the cage below it needs to be rebuilt first. I'm just glad that all the walkovers have been rebuilt.
