Surf Fishing 9/19 - 9/26
What an awesome week both in weather and water clarity. Threw mostly bubble rigs and top dogs the entire week when we weren't landing blues, ladyfish and juvenile jacks on a fly rod. Early morning action was something unusual to say the least. Each morning I had at least one blow up on the bubble rig from black tips, some being the most violent breaches I've seen outside of a shark week episode. Managed to hook two of them that took me for a ride before breaking off. Switched to a steel leader on the back of the bubble rig and hooked another but he just shredded it. We landed a 7lb Spanish and lost another that was ripping line so fast that we figure it must have been a small King or a very large Spanish. The Spanish was caught on a bone/orange/chartreuse top dog, and the one we lost hit the bubble rig with bright green tube on the back. Has anyone ever had this kind of action from sharks attacking bubble rigs so violently? Wild!!!
