Thanksgiving Day 5k Run at WaterSound

The St. Joe Company’s WaterSound community will host the second annual “Move Your Feet to the Beat,” a 5K run to benefit the Sacred Heart Foundation, on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 26. Nearly 250 people participated in the inaugural run last year. This year’s run will begin at 8:00 a.m. sharp at WaterSound’s Village Commons, located off of Highway 98 in WaterSound, FL.
Proceeds from the event will benefit Sacred Heart Hospital on the Emerald Coast, which was recently recognized by Thomson Reuters as one of the nation’s 100 Top Hospitals®. Serving Emerald Coast residents and visitors since 2003, the not-for-profit hospital continues to fulfill its mission to improve the health of the community at large, with special attention to service of the poor. For more information, visit www.sacredheartemerald.org.
Prizes for male and female runners and the top in the children's category will be awarded to 1st, 2nd and 3rd place finishers. A special award will be given for the best "Athlete's Costume". Post-race refreshments will be served at WaterSound's Village Commons, courtesy of St. Joe Community Sales.
“We’re proud to again be a committed supporter of the Sacred Heart Health System,” said Mary Rosenheim, Senior Vice President and General Manager of JOE’s West Florida Region. “We have a long history of working with the organization, most recently in donating land for the new Sacred Heart Hospital in Port St. Joe.”
To register for the run, visit www.Active.com and search for “Sacred Heart Foundation 5K Run”. For more information about the race, contact Hadley Nyquist, race director, at 678-296-7780 or email hadster@gmail.com.

    About WaterSound

WaterSound is taking shape on more than 1,400 acres of coastal uplands and will offer an impressive array of recreational and outdoor activities. The master plan was designed by New York-based Hart/Howerton & Associates and Atlanta-based Tunnell-Spangler-Walsh. The residential community of WaterSound sits between the Intracoastal Waterway and Lake Powell, one of the world’s rare dune lakes fed by both rainwater and meandering tides – perfect for freshwater and saltwater fishing. WaterSound homesites are interconnected by an extensive pedestrian trail system – ideal for walking or biking. Many homes will be within walking distance of the centrally located Village Commons, a gathering place for residents to enjoy a light lunch, spend a day besides the community pool, engage in a workout at the fitness room, and check the day’s mail at the post office. A short stroll from Village Commons is the Davis Love III designed Origins Golf Course, which is ideal for the quick round in the evening or the casual family golf outing.
