Snow?!?
Well our weather...I mean meteorologist in the metro Atlanta are are in full blown frenzy. They just took us "live" to view the sand and salt they will be spreading if we get a snow flake or two.
Schools have early dismissal.
The grocery stores are now mobbed. Fortunately or unfortunately for us the temps have risen, but...that means we will probably get the dreaded ice storm when the temps plunge later this evening. I wouldn't mind a little snow, ice bites though!
Good thing we have a generator and I did a stock up at the grocery store ahead of the mobs! I do predict NoHall will be seeing some snow and probably singinchicken. I predict we won't. maybe I'm wrong. Either way, bring it on, I think I'm ready!!!

Been coming down here all morning...heading your way. I left work early because the roads were getting pretty bad and I have to cross the Tenneesee river bridge. I don't like it even when the roads are clear. Closed schools last night. Did I mention I hate winter?
Stocked up on beer and food yesterday. I am good to go. Roll Tide!

Hope you guys are all okay! Biggest thing is staying off the roads (and giving yourself 2x the distance to stop) and away from the idiots who think 4 wheel drive makes them invincible.
I find the snow frenzy hilarious as it used to take a minimum of 6" of snow or a windchill of -50 (for the kids who rode the bus and had to stand outside and wait/walk to and from the stop) before they even thought about closing our schools.
Am WAY too excited about the idea of witnessing snow in Florida - I want a call/text (at any time of day/night) if anyone actually sees flakes in Sowal!

Three flakes! That's it! My grocery store isn't even packed, but I did give a little old lady a ride home - she was afraid of the ice......it's 40 degrees.
I'm ticked! I want snow~~~~~~~~~~~Helping others is a gift.

It is just now starting to snow again here in Cleveland. They are expecting another huge storm to drop up to 8 to 10 inches by time it is done. Tonight will be a good night to curl up in my chair and wath Bama roll.

I guess I'll get to see how the Goldwing handles in the snow and ice, today!

Well, its starting to spit tiny flakes here in Griffin. I'm thinking we may have more ice than snow since its now 40 deg, but it's supposed to drop to the low 20's tonight. Ugh!!! Please make it snow, not ice storm.

Snowing here! Wind chill is 17. It was great fun driving home with only one windshield wiper.

The snow was beautiful here today, even though Memphis did not get much the outer areas did.
Nothing like waking up to snow on the ground, especially when you really doubt it is going to do anything.

Just as I suspected, no snow to speak of. A few flakes, some sleet, lots of cold air and plunging temps. That's ok I've got plenty of food and beer! Wish I had bought eggs. We're out. :-(
-
Everyone be safe, any moisture in these temps is ice and very dangerous. Watch for areas where melted snow will run off or areas shaded from the sun.
If it's wet it is frozen.

Snowing here in Suwanee, GA.!! It is beautiful, but light. Any snow is beautiful for me - I'm from Miami. Be safe tonight.

DeFuniak is opening up a shelter, and Holmes County is delaying the start of school. Rain is changing to snow overnight here- but I told the kids that "the show" would happen while they were asleep (if at all).

We have a dusting of snow in a few random spots down here in SoSoATL.
On 11Alive they are saying that the roads in Atlanta are pretty dangerous due to icy spots, and the ice won't go away today if it doesn't get sun.
Apparently there was a 27-car wreck on a ramp at 85/285 southwest of the airport because DOT forgot to gravel the ramp. Obama took full responsibility.Last edited by Beach Runner; 01-08-2010 at 09:33 AM.

The temp has dropped here this morning. It was 35 when i got up at 5:30. Now it's 28! I'm soooooo not cut out for cold. I don't have enough winter clothes to wear something different everyday for weeks....good thing i don't have to go to a job.
-
We got quite a bit of snow through the night and ruch hour here is a bummer. Good thing I have a short commute. We have probably 8 to 10 inches on the ground and it is cold out there.
-
Here in chicago, we only got about 6" yesterday with the 4" already on the ground. My son's flight out of Hopkins yesterday was rescheduled due to bad weather in both locations. But he finally made it to O'Hare by 8am this morning. Whew. We thought he'd never get out of Cleveland and back to Chicago. I don't know which area had the worse weather! We are at 22 degrees with W/C of 12. We're staring to get used to it now. At least we are above the teens now!

We have the same weather but more snow so we look prettier than you do.
Pippi just walked out the door bundled up to the nines. Her boyfriend is taking her to the airport. She's heading back to Italy for classes on Monday but she has a whole day layover in Paris...where it's snowy and 27 degrees (feels like 13). I've talked her into doing a walking tour and she's prepared...wooly muffler, mittens, and knit hat. J/K!!! My girl is actually wearing cashmere--Santa (I mean, her boyfriend) was quite good to her this Christmas.

Mermy, I'm glad you have more snow than us. There are reasons I live in the deep south and snow and ice (unless it's in my drink) are not among them. There's just something wrong when it's colder outside than the inside of my pucking freezer!
I am hoping the very beautiful and stylish Pippi has a safe trip and can stay warm and fashionable at the same time. This boyfriend sounds like a keeper if he gifted her cashmere. If there is a wedding I'd better be invited...unless it's some winter wonderland affiar.
I'll just ship my gift if that's the case!

Any pics, Mermy? I agree, GTTBM. He sounds like a keeper!
Never too early to start thinking about it.

No snow for you!
No snow~!

I monitored the outside temp until midnight (gotta love the many features on travel alarms) then went to sleep with the phone nearby in case it DID snow and I got a call.

Wind chill is something like 50 below......I heard this for Dallas. Dallas and Atlanta, 50 below. Ice everywhere. Dangerous! Twenty-seven car pile up! Why? Why? Why do people insist on driving on ice? Police and DOT barricaded several roads and drivers went around and did what? Crashed! All of them. Our temps won't be above freezing until Tuesday!
I called a taxi for my meeting last night and am going to walk tonight.Helping others is a gift.
