$5 million dollar Seaside home sells in 11 days
$1,712/sf gulf front home. 2,912 sf, 5br, 3ba - Bella Bleau.
Pending - not closed yet.
Bella Bleu A place for everything and everything in its place. Experience the joy of living in the town that pioneered the rebirth of the relaxed, light-hearted lifestyle of vintage Northwest Florida through its new-urbanist approach to town design. Few places are as unmistakable as Seaside and have so profoundly shaped their local landscapes. The underpinning of Seaside style embraces simplicity and encourages a clean and sophisticated aesthetic that recalls an earlier time. Designed by David Colgan of Merrill Pastor & Colgan, Bella Bleu observes the tenets of traditional beach cottage style yet interprets them in a modern manner that is both practical and comfortable. The front door, flanked by porthole windows, opens into a large entry room whose walls are wrapped in crisp, white wood paneling, juxtaposed against deeply stained wide-cut, quarter sawn oak floors that carry throughout all three floors of this home, each serviced by a residential elevator. A central hall bisects the first floor and leads to a breezy sleeping porch with working mahogany shutters where a fully-equipped, private outdoor bathroom is conveniently situated. A sunny stairwell on the east side of the home captures views of the Gulf as well as one of many uniquely-designed beach walkovers which are a Seaside trademark. The second floor is home to a Gulf-facing master bedroom with a spacious covered deck as well as his and hers bathrooms and white cedar-lined closets. Hers includes a deep soaking tub enveloped by refreshing marble tiles and features period-inspired plumbing fixtures with exposed supply lines. One of two laundry rooms is discretely stowed in an adjoining closet for easy access. Opposite the master bedroom, a cozy sitting room gives place for pause and seamlessly integrated built-ins hide media equipment and home office space. Architectural sketches deliver an option to repurpose the space to use as a fourth bedroom. Inspired by a local landmark, the third floor cathedral ceiling models that of the Seaside Chapel. Evenly spaced wooden slats fastened over furring strips create texture and a sense of space beyond them amid beams that span the breadth of the home. A stylish kitchen with cool, white marble countertops, equipped with stainless steel Viking appliances is demarcated from the living space by sliding divided light windows. Intricate, hand-woven Conrad window treatments from Thailand, found in other rooms throughout the home as well, shade the space. A roll-out pantry is tucked out of sight adjacent to the elevator. The living space has the potential to open out onto the large covered porch through three sets of atrium doors with built-in screen panels. Foot steps separate you from the beach and your view is limited only by the horizon.

Re: $5 million dollar Seaside home sells in 11 days
Eleven days is not true. It was a homework problem for my class back in September.
LAB 9/26/05
You’ve decided to buy your dream house, Bella Blue, on the beach at Seaside, Florida http://www.seasidefl.com/realEstateListingsDetails.asp?salesId=1123 that sells for $5,985,000. You’ll pay a down payment of 20%. Compute the monthly payment assuming that you take out a 30-year loan at 5.34%. Then construct an amortization table.

Re: $5 million dollar Seaside home sells in 11 days
Well, it is partially true. Listing #421407. List price is $4,985,000 and it is not a 5bd / 3ba. It is a 3bd / 5.5 ba. Expected close date of 4/13/06 and went under contract on this past Thursday, after being back on the market for 11 days. Originally, it was listed in May '05 at $6,295,000, but it was withdrawn from the market in Dec, probably due to the massive price reduction, then placed right back on the market, thereby hiding the number of real days on the market. Then, it was again removed from the market, and once again, put back on the market in Mar '06. (confusing, eh?)

My students will vouch for the fact that it was on the market in September.

Yes, it was on the market in May '05 and pulled from the market twice, after two price reductions, and went back on the market in Mar '06 thereby technically making it on the market for 11 days, even though we can do the real math.

Can we just throw a tent over this entire thread and charge admission? ....sincere thanks to all for a much needed chuckle.

It was Bella Bleau that sold not Bella Blue.

Re: $5 million dollar Seaside home sells in 11 days
The Seaside website spelled it "Blue." I am a stickler for proper grammar and spelling, and I do know foreign languages, not saying that I don't occasionally slip up in my haste to post.

Is "Bleau" the name of the seller? Otherwise, if it's a dictionary word, I would have thought Italian because of the "bella," but "bleau" doesn't translate into Italian in any online language translator with which I'm familiar. Do you know what it means?

"Bleu" is French for blue.

There's probably not a person on this board that doesn't know that. But "bleau"?

I still like "Bella Blow". It could translate to "Pretty Wind"?
The Blow part seems appropriate for the weather the last few years....
