Thread: Relay for Life Freeport April 16

  1. Relay for Life Freeport April 16

Freeport will hold its American Cancer Society Relay for Life tomorrow, April 16th starting with the survivors' lap at 6 pm at the Freeport Regional Sports Complex at Hammock Bay. Emerald Gold band will be playing classic rock and R&B from 6:30-8:30. Teams will have delicious food for sale. There are free children's activities and plenty of fun things to do to keep everyone entertained all through the night and the next morning, when the Relay ends at noon on the 17th. Please come out and support us in our fight against this terrible disease.

At the beginning of this Spring, a need was identified and US98 Soccer formed the first academy/travel soccer team for the Youth of Freeport & DeFuniak Springs.

At roughly the same time, Our Dear Friend and US98 Soccer Coach, Jason Thompson, decided he needed a rest from his battle against the cancer that had taken over much of his body and life, so he took his last breathe and passed on to a much better place.

It is in his honor that US98 Soccer has dedicated this season's recreational soccer season and formed 331 ARSENAL Association Football Academy.

Tonight in Freeport, at 6:30PM, 331 ARSENAL (nicknamed "Jason & The Argonauts") play the 1st of what is sure to be many Home Matches at the Freeport Regional Complex (Park Map).

Not by design, at least not by human design to my knowledge, this 1st Match of a Team created in honor of a great person who suffered the ravages of cancer will coincide with Freeport's Relay for Life (Relay for Life Freeport April 16) at the same location.

We hope everyone who can, will make it out to support 331 ARSENAL and the American Cancer Society this evening, as we pay tribute to those who have passed away due to the second-leading cause of death in the United States, and those who are survivors, due in part to the advances in screening and treatment brought on by improvements in science and increased awareness through events like these.

    Thank you.
