no - a million isn't that much considering the average life span of americans, it certainly wouldn't last another 30-40 yrs. plus i couldn't leave my family !

Nope. I like to visit places and could stay somewhere for a while, but I'd want to come back to the US. After all, my grandparents left their countries and chose the U.S. for a "better life" for future generations. So, I'm happy enjoying what they set out to give us. They'd be happy to know that their hopes came true. (I still get sentimental at Neil Diamond's "The Immigrant Song", Simon and Garfunkle's "America" song, and "America the Beautiful" especially the Ray Charles version).

If you asked me the question when I was in my twenties, I'd have seriously considered it. My husband, for example, emigrated from the UK in his twenties and never looked back. He's not a British subject any more and he loves his "new" country.

But now, twenty years hence, it's different for me. I've grown less adventurous and more sentimental. I love my homeland. Heck, having lived all my years save one east of the Mississippi, I couldn't even move to Arizona or California, no matter how wonderful the scenery and weather. I'm firmly entrenched in this part of the USA. I'd feel like a fish out of water any where else.

my sentiments exactly mermy - you said it wonderfully. i love the change in seasons and feeding my birds, seeing the hummingbirds come back in april, etc.
