Sat on one, once, when I was a kid when we were crabbing under a full moon. It was like being branded with a hot coat hanger. Took about 4 months for the marks to go away.

went deep-sea (40-mile) fishing this past Sunday.....you could see the Portugues man-of-wars floating that far out, with their blue bodies alight, and their "wind sails" erect, wafting their way toward the distant shore...... I've known only one person that has had a fateful encounter with one (that wrapped around her belly as a youngster), and it was not a pleasant memory even many many years later.

BTW, last day of fishing season and we got our share of Red Snapper, Grouper, Amberjack, and Trigger Fish (and threw back twice as many)....and we even landed a respectable-sized, edible, Wahoo. That was eight awesome hours! Can't wait until next time.
