Eglin Noise Advisory- morning of December 14, 2010

Eglin issues noise advisory | flight, eglin, munitions - Military - Northwest Florida Daily News

The areas of the DeFuniak Springs and Destin may hear several small explosions and one large detonation during this time.
Granted, I'm not an engineer, but wouldn't it be better to wait a few days for this so they aren't blowing stuff up during extremely dry and windy conditions?

They blow up stuff all the time on a regular basis. I've never seen an advisory for it.

Brace yourself that should be a clue as to how loud it's going to be.

Typically, they only give you a heads up when it's gonna rock the house like when they detonated the MOAB (mother of all bombs)

I wasn't here when they dropped the MOAB, but locals who were said that Eglin AFB issued an announcement to prepare for large noise and shake, and it was almost uneventful, not surprising since it is designed to explode just before hitting the ground so that the ground doesn't absorb the majority of the blast.

Eglin had a few bombs really rock the house about a week ago, much stronger than any I've felt before.

Wait on good conditions? What's the point? War is fought in all kinds of conditions.

Considering that our current 2 wars are in the desert I'm not so sure how bombing forest land is "preparing".
