Vision Airlines dropping five cities

Vision announced this week that effective July 17 it will discontinue service to five cities — Huntsville, Ala.; Baton Rouge, La.; Savannah, Ga.; and Columbia and Greenville/Spartanburg, S.C.

wow will they make it now? my brother flew to ft walton from columbia,sc for $39 as he got there initial promotion.

Weren't these just being tried out to check demand anyway?

Not surprising to me. Most of those cities have no, or little, connection to our area. Southwest flights to ECP are from cities which are existing major markets for South Walton. Plus, St Joe is guaranteeing Southwest money for losses so that they don't drop those flights during the first few years, not that they have had to do that yet. Those Southwest flights are extremely popular.

Vision is great for competition, but they need to get more savvy in their destination selections.

Savannah was the one that was always puzzling to me. Not arguing beach quality but Tybee Island is minutes away and Hilton Head is less than an hour. Hilton Head also competes head-to-head with Sowal on the same visitor demographic. Who was flying from there to Sowal?
