Hibiscus Backyard of Love

Join us as we listen to the talent of two young singer/songwriters … Kelsey Anna & Jessica Cayne, both 30A Songwriter Festival perfomers. Born and raised in the Panhandle of Florida, Kelsey Anna began her music career at the young age of 13. Her debut EP was made alongside sister, Natasha Johnson, with fellow musician and friend, Marc Harris, in Birmingham, AL. The two sisters performed up and down scenic highway 30-A for years with a set list made up of mostly covers and were said to have a sound resembling that of Bonnie Raitt with a twist of Billie Holiday.
At 16, Kelsey moved to Tallahassee, FL where a change of scenery, broken heart, and a touch of homesickness inspired her first song, “Dive Deep”. With her transition from cover artist to songwriter, she was asked to perform in the 2010 30-A Songwriter’s Festival. Upon introducing her original music to the public, Kelsey has continued to grow as an artist. Since the summer of 2010, Kelsey has been working on a side project with Matt Miller (fiddle). You can find the two performing together at any of her shows.
Jessica Cayne began writing and performing her own tunes at age 11. Her love of music, singing and performing took her to the stage in high school with performances in the repertory company as lead actress in many of the musicals and dramas. She attended college on a musical theatre scholarship until the pursuit of her own music took center stage.
Jessica’s music is southern, soulful, country-rock. If Steven Tyler and Dolly Parton had a love child, it would be Jessica Cayne, rocking like Aerosmith with the honesty and grace of Dolly in her lyrics. With a performance style that is unexpected from a Georgia “peach”, Jessica’s guitar based writing drives her stage presence and her tunes.
“Raising Cayne” is Jessica’s latest CD that includes a tune co-written with Rose Falcon (Rose contributed a tune on the movie “Country Strong” songtrack). “Raising Cayne” is sold on iTunes. Jessica’s EP, “A Little Bit of Me” is a disc of her older tunes she sells on-line and at all of her shows.
