looks like the evil air potato vine. Yes, it will come back again and again. It is suggested that when you pull them up, to burn them, but trust me I've pulled up many in my yard and they are always there. Whenever i feel like i need to cuss a blue streak, I just go out and tackle those for a while....the cursing flows freely.

You could cut that stuff up and soak it in round-up and it'll still survive. That stuff is hard core!

We just call it the "evil vine" around here. I'm willing to believe that if one tiny cell remains in the yard it will turn into a full fledged vine in a week.

I don't get it. Waht makes one plant good and one bad? I guess thorns can be a problem but why not leave it alone. So what if if "grows up into the trees"?

It doesn't just grow up trees. It will take over your lot/yard if you let it go. It can be especially dangerous for kids and dogs .

That's Greenbriar, and the tender tips are very tasty, as long as no one has sprayed it with Round-up.

Smilax(greenbriar)- when the roots/corm are removed as shown, it will not return. Just don't leave it laying around.

When given greenbriar, make a salad.

Actually Round up is one of the few herbicides that readily breaks down and turns in to carbon dioxide. It has a half life of about a month. That's why many farmers use it.

    Murray,
I'm curious... do you just use the leaves? Have you tried preparing/eating the roots too?

That is what the manufacturer claims. The reality is that the stuff is poison and is not breaking down like they claim.
