Self Defense and Conditioning Classes based on the principles of Wing Chun, Tai Chi Chuan, Shaolin Qin Na, Muay Thai and western boxing

Cost; $20 per session
Instructors: Ed Berry & Karen Katzenbach with special guest instructors.
This class combines Martial Arts skills and techniques instruction with high intensity conditioning. Participants will learn strikes, escapes, joint locks and other techniques with a focus on building proficiency and confidence to deal with any self-defense situation. The conditioning portion of the class will combine the martial arts skills with CrossFit methodology for a high intensity workout that will improve cardiovascular endurance and prepare participants for whatever life throws at them.
About the instructors:
Ed began studying Martial Arts at the age of eight. His first Martial Arts training was in the Korean Art of Taekwondo. As he began his teenage years, he began training in a cross or mixture of Martial Arts under Hap Milt. Hapkido, knife skills, and practical chokes were practiced. In his twenty’s, he began training formally in AGK (the American Goshin Budo and Kobudo – Shi-Toh-Ryu Karate -Do) by Sensei Stan Cole in Black Mountain, North Carolina. During this time he was introduced to both Form Tournaments and Fighting Tournaments.
Approximately 12 years ago, in his Thirties, Ed had the unique privilege to meet Sifu Henry Patterson. At this time Sifu Patterson introduced him to the Chinese Arts of: Wing Chun and White Crane Gong Fu, Shaolin Qin Na, Taijiquan and Qigong. In the years of training in these Chinese Arts, Ed has been invited to travel all across the United States to train with Dr. Yang Jing – Ming and Sifu Rich Gibson of ymaa.com and Master Yip Pui (Terence Yip) of www.yipwingchun.com
Ed’s passion is learning and teaching real life self defense techniques that are practical, efficient and reliable.
Karen is Co-Owner and trainer at 30a CrossFit. She is a USA Weightifting Club Coach and a Black Belt in Integrated Combative System from theBrown Institute of Martial Arts where she was also a Muay Thai instructor. She is a member of the Thai Boxing Association of the USA and has conducted Muay Thai and Submission Grappling classes at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base and as well as developing and delivering in-depth self defense classes for base employees and the general public. She worked for the US Air Force for 14 years, most recently as an instructor at Air War College and Air Command and Staff College at Maxwell Air Force Base.
Karen’s passion is helping people find inner strength by developing their outer strength.
