PUBLIC INVITED TO ATTEND BAYOU ARTS CENTER OPEN HOUSE OCTOBER 20
The South Walton Tourist Development Council (TDC) and Cultural Arts Alliance (CAA) announce the grand opening of the Bayou Arts Center, Thursday, October 22 from 4-7 PM. Though the Center has been operating for nearly a year, the public is invited to participate in this family fun day, which also coincides with the CAA Annual Meeting.
The event will be filled with local food trucks including Foodie Dietrich, Dog Man Doo hotdogs, snow cones, and ice cream, as well as 15 minute watercolor workshops, kids’ arts & crafts, certified nature based outfitter tours of the Bayou, live music and much more.
“We are excited to welcome the community to our new home and spread awareness of our ongoing programs and classes,” said CAA Executive Director Jennifer Steele. “We know that South Walton visitors and residents will find the Bayou Arts Center to be a place they can come to relax, enjoy the view and create a one-of-a-kind memory.”
The Bayou Arts Center is also a venue for art exhibits, art workshops, meetings, reunions and small events. The serene setting on Hogtown Bayou overlooking the Choctawhatchee Bay provides an stimulating backdrop for creativity.
“By partnering with the CAA to cover operational expenses of the Bayou Arts Center, we can help not only local artists to have their own inspired environment, but one that is open to everyone,” said TDC Executive Director Dawn Moliterno. “This Center allows artists to share their talent and interests with visitors in an educational and involved way.”
The recently released Fall Arts Schedule offers classes ranging from mixed media design and basket weaving to lectures and watercolor tips and techniques, attractive to artist of any level. Rotating exhibits by local and national artists curated by the CAA are featured in the Studio and the Cypress Room, and the St. Francis Chapel features a 360 degree folk-life mural. Exhibits can be viewed by the public Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 4:00pm. The Bayou Arts Center is open to the public at no charge. For more information, contact Info@CulturalArtsAlliance.com.
