All I know is I'm packing my sandcastle cake form. Allifunn and I are going to do dueling cakes. Or maybe we'll make a whole village of SoWal sandcastles! I even bought some of those Belgian chocolates that look like seashells. We can decorate the cake plates with faux June grass, too.

Here's the way it's going on at my house, right now. I'm rifling through the beach closet for all our gear. Thus far,


Merman: one swimsuit, one towel, one baseball cap & sunglasses
Mermaid: 3 swimsuits
3 assorted coverups
2 towels
3 sunglasses
3 pairs flip-flops

And this is only for starters. I haven't even gotten to the bathroom to start packing toiletries! I'm beginning to think gttbm has the right idea.

I just looked at my list and almost passed out! I have managed to move everything from the counters to the kitchen table. Guess we won't be eating any meals there between now and Saturday a.m.!!

I think if you--or anyone else--actually took the trouble to inventory what you brought to the beach, you'd find your "list" exactly like Jdarg's. The list is not full of any exotic items, just practical things for beach living! All jdarg has done is write it down on paper.

Now please excuse me while I finish writing down a week's worth of menus...

i always make a list mainly because i usually work right up until we leave and without a list i would forget something !

You must be busy busy busy getting ready - haven't seen you post tonight. I'm just taking a break. Almost done with laundry and then I can get the suitcases out. And before you know it, there will be only 2 more days!

Oh no, we're taking a very long road trip. Leaving Friday morning and staying overnight just south of Nashville, then finishing up and hoping to make it in early enough on Saturday to make it to the Washaway House.

How about you - do you fly or drive?

Oh no, we're taking a very long road trip. Leaving Friday morning and staying overnight just south of Nashville, then finishing up and hoping to make it in early enough on Saturday to make it to the Washaway House.

Road trip as well. We're planning on getting out of the house as early as we can on Friday and making it to our condo by late afternoon/early evening. If traffic is decent, we should have a drive time of 12 hours (though mostly it's 13 or so thanks to Nashville tie-ups). On the way back we usually divide the time up with an overnight trip because we like to leave the beach as late as we can possibly swing it. Your trip is a doozy--just like the one we make when we drive down to my parents in Naples--about 18 hours or more! Ah well, that's what we do when there's a beach at the end of the journey.
