Cafe Thirty-A crab cakes - The winner!
So in my recent contest of the battle of the crab cakes, Cafe Thirty-A won running away (sorry, Red Bar/331). Does anyone know how they cook them? They were so fluffy and perfectly formed, I got the impression they might actually be baked or broiled in a custard dish. Anyone got the goods?

I haven't been to Cafe 30-A in years. But, because of you I will go and try those crabcakes in October.
Which community along 30A shall we pillage this evening?....gttbm

I am guessing they use those little metal rings to keep the crabmeat in place, then they pan fry them.
They are good, but I think you can only get them as an appetizer. And you only get one.

Didn't try Tango. Looks like I better schedule my trip back. Also, if you ask them, you can get the crabcakes as a meal (two of 'em). Add a mojito martini and you'll swear you've touched the face of God.

i have a friend who's had to go on the wagon permanently for really unfortunate medical reasons, but still likes to go out and have funn, and she comes up with the greatest substitutes for popular drinks (which usually cost as much as the real thing)!
'mohito' - white rum, mint, lime, top with club soda
'baby mohito' - fresca, mint, lime, top with club soda
'bloody mohito' - white rum, mint, lime, red wine, top with club soda
'baby bloody mohito' - fresca, mint, lime, grenadine, top with club soda
'stunned mohito' - whiskey, mint, lime, top with club soda
'baby stunned mohito' - fanta orange, mint, lime, shot of bitters, top with club soda
subs:
white rum - fresca or 7-up
dark rum - vernor's ginger ale
whiskey - fanta orange soda and bitters
gin - sprite
vodka - rockstar or club soda
oh, and if the waitress or bartender dosen't know what 'baby' means or how to make it, she just goes right up to the bar and makes them add it to the bar's recipe collection - then she orders it again!
