The Village of South Walton Fountains?
Does anyone know if the fountain is operational?

Has not been operating for 3 seasons now. Last year they had a couple of little "water spouts" in the middle they got to come on briefly, but the owner of that tract is not going to invest in fixing them, nor pay for the liability insurance, according to what we've been told. Hard to believe that Alys Beach thinks fountains are such an added benefit that they are putting in some, and no one undertands the benefit at the villages.

My husband and I are staying at a condo in The Village in mid-July, so I am disappointed. Do you have any ideas or thoughts about The Village? Is there a better option? We just need a small studio near the beach. Thanks for your help!

Can anyone provide feedback about this complex? If management has not kept the fountain operational, I'm worried about what else has not been attended to by the powers that be.

Wuchie, I've got an idea...buy an RV and park it at Destin RV Resort when you come down!

The rest of the complex seems to be pretty well maintained, with new shops and restaurants newly added.

I've never booked a condo in that complex but as a fellow VRBO'er I looked at their ads on line. Their prices look great and the some of the condos look huge. It's in a location where you could literally park you car for days and only walk, bike, run, crawl or slide. I think it's a great option for those on a budget.

I just got back from the area. We stayed at the Inn at Seacrest Beach. Nice studios and quiet complex. Sad to be home!

i've had family stay @ both inn @ seacrest and the villiage over the years-depending on the condo sometimes the village ones can be larger. the villiage is closer to rosemary and has the nearby food choices but it can get crowded in the parking areas-you have to watch it biking or with younger kids in the area. for inn at seacrest it's near Alys very close to Georges and close enough to other options. i think the inn has it's own pool (nice one) but can't use seacrest unlike the village (you need to check for sure and some do have the pool pass for particular condos for the Inn) i'm pretty sure both use the same beach access (but ask)
i understand parts for the village fountain were really expensive and the fix was done by one of the handy tram drivers (nice guy) but it must not have lasted.Last edited by librarian; 06-20-2012 at 02:30 PM.

I'll also add that I stayed at the Inn at Seacrest Beach a few weeks ago. The VRBO unit I stayed in was a very well appointed studio. Great bed, TV, Kitchenette (which I didn't use). Some of the units have more of a kitchen set up than others. If I need to run back down and my condo happens to be booked I'd stay there again.
