So far, so good. Very little June grass has showed. The water has been murky the past week but is beginning to clear.
    Enjoy

Very little June Grass??? We were in Seagrove for a couple of weeks in mid to late June and I have never seen the water so gross. Murky, plus June Grass plus some seaweed.Fishing in the surf was next to impossible due to june grass and seaweed tangling in line and swimming was no fun. May was great. June not so much. Bet time for water clarity is not June-August.

Thanks all! I will take the "wait and see" approach. I'll probably throw the poles in the car and head toward Mexico Beach or The Cape. Seems to be a bit clearer there this time of year.

Just got back from a nice swim in Seagrove. Tropical Storm Debby stirred up some cloudiness that hasn't settled yet, but the storm also dissipated the June grass that we had last month. Of course, that could change by next week. Might clear up completely or might grow some more grass, who knows.

    June grass?

I've been watching the beach cams lately.....eagerly anticipating our yearly trip the first of August. What am I seeing in the water? Is it some heavy June grass? It almost looks RED on the beach cams. Did notice some beach goers in the water this morning....Maybe it's clearing?

Sargassum - it is a brownish red and since it clumps together nicely some areas might be clear.

At Seaside today there is a huge dark area in front of Tupelo but just left of it, it's clear. The beach is short with clumps on the waters edge. Yellow flag. Nice breeze. After 3 hours of enjoying beachside, heading to pool. Ellen

Heavy sargassum in Grayton, but we walked a short way over to the state park and found a clear swimming spot. The seaweed is so heavy that it is piled on the beach, and in some places the piles have trapped enough sand to make small islands that are fairly solid.

The shores of Lake Defuniak are currently free of sargassum. To each their beach!

Love this one! Admittedly right now our beach looks like the pits. The nice thing about living here full time is that you know eventually our beaitiful white sand beach will return.

We were in Seagrove July 14-21st and the water was some of the best we've experienced in our 5 years coming to 30A. Seaweed was a bit heavy at times...but none of the green algae. The Wednesday we were there (the 18th) was spectacular. Almost flat in the morning and less than 1 ft. waves during the afternoon. Water was crystal clear up to 6 feet...which incidentally aided me in finding my sunglasses that my son knocked off my head!
