Dining report 6/22-7/4
Actually spent a night in Panama City at Wyndham Bay Point Resort so we had dinner at Schooners on PCB, ok peel and eats, I had pretty good grilled shrimp with polenta, friends enjoyed their fried fish n fries. Lunch at the Back Porch in Pier Park the next day, really good grilled amberjack sandwich, broiled crab claws were way to buttery-I rarely say that but it was just a puddle, pretty good fried pickles, friend had good shrimp poboy, kids liked their fried shrimp and oysters. Sunday was the day of Debbie's rain so back to Pier Park for a movie and ate at Rum Runners while we waited-closest in pouring down rain! We all had frozen rum runners or the combo with pina coloda-yum. Shared grilled shrimp sandwich and fried crawfish with a friend, both were tasty and kids all liked the kids options.
Monday night we had Nick's on the Beach, really good onion rings and fried crab claws, great fried shrimp and creamy cheese grits, one kiddo got crab legs and our super sweet waitress taught him how to crack them correctly and was just a doll to our group! We got a key lime pie to go and it was good but a little sweet to me. We tried for Stinky's one night but elevator was broken and one of our group has MS so we needed the elevator, valet guys recommended local catch and our service was so so but our food was great-the pork nachos were fantastic and they order the New Orleans french bread for their poboys, fish tacos were also a hit. We went to shop Seaside one night and had dinner at the Great Southern and the black eyed pea hummus was tasty, my grilled shrimp n bacon macncheese were great, shrimp and grits were loved, kids were all happy with kid choices, burger was good, crab cakes were a little bland n dry. Goatfeathers steamed and chilled shrimp with their tasty tartar and remoulade and we fixed our own corn and new potatoes n french bread to go with it-always a hit. Goatfeathers restaurant for lunch because they had crab legs on lunch menu, those were well received as were fried mushrooms and fried pickles but my seafood platter was very so so, decent crab cakes but terrible fried shrimp and oysters had a mud taste to me, fried fish was ok.
Saturday dinner at Christiano's, picked up to go because I was too tired to get dressed! Salad was tasty, bread and dipping oil was yummy, lasagna was a little dry and noodles were a little soft to me. Had Marie's bistro for lunch one day, their hummus wasn't really my thing, it had pesto or something in it, great blackened triggerfish-would have preferred it on a sandwich but got it on a salad, I should've been more specific when I ordered, key lime pie to go was the best of the trip! Dinner at Marie's started with the fantastic eggrolls, gumbo was a little tomato-y and thick for me but that's just personal taste, shrimp scampi was a little lemony for me but I the pasta was perfectly cooked and I liked the veggies in it, complimentary key lime pie to go :). Lunch one day at Stinky's Fish Camp, firecracker shrimp app was greatness and fried shrimp basket was great, I love their fried shrimp. Dinner at Stinky's of their creamy macncheese and crawfish pie, got hubs the smokey braised short ribs and polenta to drag home to Texas and sneaked a little bite-yum! Also got 2 more pieced of Marie's key lime pie to go to Texas and we enjoyed them this past weekend!!
Lots of great food on this trip at our house as well: ham salad, tuna and rice salad, crab dip, shrimp dip, marinated spaghetti salad, homemade pimento cheese, homemade bruschetta topping, pesto and monterrey jack grilled cheese sandwiches with crispy parmesan edges, tasty bfasts, poppyseed chicken casserole, homemade nutella ice cream!
After all of this great food and eating Mexican food for 3 straight days upon my return to Texas, I'm on shakes for bfast and lunch and healthy dinners until my bday later this month and then back on the wagon again!!!
