Re: SoWell on Sowal
I thought this would fit perfect here.
New Diet
Here's your sign.
I was in Wal-Mart buying a large bag of Purina for my Labrador Retriever and was in line to check out.
A woman behind me asked if I had a dog.
I just couldn't help myself, and on impulse, I told her that no, I was starting The Purina Diet again, although I probably shouldn't because I'd ended up in the hospital last time, but that I'd lost 50 pounds before I awakened in an intensive care ward with tubes coming out of most of my orifices and IVs in both arms.
I told her that it was essentially a perfect diet and that the way that it works is to load your pants pockets with Purina nuggets and simply eat one or two every time you feel hungry & that the food is nutritionally complete so I was going to try it again.
I have to mention here that practically everyone in the line was by now enthralled with my story, particularly a tall guy behind her.
Horrified, she asked if I'd been poisoned and was that why I was in the hospital.
I said no. . . . . I'd been sitting in the street licking my balls and a car hit me.
I thought the tall guy was going to have to be carried out the door.

Re: SoWell on Sowal
I just thought of something else that perhaps would be of help to some of you. I used this for quite awhile and will probably go back to it. It is called E-mealz. Here is the link: http://www.e-mealz.com/Let someone else plan your meals, and make you a grocery list for $5 a month. They have Low-Carb, Low-Fat, Meal Plans, for two. They use Publix, Kroger, Walmart, or anystore. Go to the website for more information. I highly recommend this!!!!

Re: SoWell on Sowal
Linda: this is great. i saw it and meant to print it at work, since my (&$#*ing printer at home is on the fritz. I did however, print out your post and took it to the store with me yesterday. I was doing so good until I got a call from my (&%ing ex DIL that she needed me to pick up the kids. It was 5:55 and the day care closes at six and I've got half a basket of groceries and the day care is a 20 minute drive in traffic from me! Well, you can just imagine what I said, but couldn't stand to think of those precious babies left there waiting, so I quickly aborted my shopping trip, checked out what I did have and raced to the car, only to have her call back and say, "nevermind"..........

Anyhoo, I used your suggestions and got a lot of the stuff you listed. I also got these little chocolate "tea biscuits" in the international foods that only have one gram of fat for two. now, they are pretty little, but they are just the right thing to take the edge off and not too sweet. sorta like my little treat. made some wraps (i think i posted about these) and they were delish! tonight it's lean hamburger patties with mushrooms, salad and some of those frozen steamed veggies. thanks for all your support and suggestions!!

Re: SoWell on Sowal
Accomplished all goals today except for the gym part--just flat ran out of time. Linda, I'll look into the Y, thanks! I did, however, make macaroni and cheese for Jackson and yes, I did eat three (ok, four) bites. It was sheer heaven! Got a new "choppy" haircut, and natural color. It really looked good until I walked and was drenched with sweat! Not an attractive look! Just put Jackson to bed, but he's not asleep--he tries to trick me into thinking he is! Sooo......tomorrow's a new day. Some new goals/some the same. Film at 11.

Yes you are DD! I'm very proud of you. Don't worry about the mac & cheese - a few bites is nothing to feel guilty about. It's exactly what I mean when I say not to deprive yourself. I often "sneak" a few bites of something I know I shouldn't eat. Today I had a few of my son's french fries and some days I have a few bites of ice cream. And as far as the exercise is concerned, sounds like a few hours with your grandson qualifies!

Re: SoWell on Sowal
Probably nobody wants to hear THIS story, but about a year and a half ago..........I went on Atkins (weighed about 145 at the time) , wanted to lose about 25 lbs.........have battled with my weight since having children, I lost the 25 lbs over about an 8 mth time period, went off Atkins, started trying to eat healthy, then over the course of the next 4-5 mths, 20 more dropped off............even during Christmas, which I ate every and anything in sight
. NOW for the 1st time in my life I think I am TOO thin, have been and had tests done etc. to make sure there wasn't anything medically wrong with me...........it's just WEIRD, since I have sturggled with my weight for 20 plus years, now BOOM..............I'm TOO thin now (especially for my age) Oh well.........but i know I'm not in shape, I need to excercise more, and maybe that will put some muscle weight on.

Re: SoWell on Sowal
Alright DD- gimme some goals today. It has been a weekend designed around "convenience". As in, let's not inconvenience Mama and make her cook! So it was Chinese on Friday night, pizza last night, wine Friday night, gallons of iced tea yesterday. Ugh. Slap me please.

Wash--the car, by hand, (will have to wait til after 6 though because of water restrictions--but surely it will burn lots of cals.)
Eat only really healthy stuff and ignore that left over mac and cheese

Oh, DD!!! you are making progress and this is wonderful. I am still in Bham and not doing very well, sorry to report. The only thing I've managed to do here is to drink my water and eat reasonable portions (though I've eaten everything I shouldn't). no exercise except power shopping. will be home tomorrow, Allifunn will be waiting for me, and I'll ask her to make me salads and fish every day!

Re: SoWell on Sowal
I've been horrible lately on the diet front. Gained 5 pounds since the cruise! That's not supposed to happen!
Things have been stressful lately around here, very much, and I've been eating shameless amounts of comfort food. I've also gone to 3 birthday parties in the last two weeks. (Did I mention that I always eat birthday cake when it comes around, regardless? And I'll eat a big piece, in honor of their birthday, of course!
)

Re: SoWell on Sowal
How was your cruise? Did you have funn?
-
Re: SoWell on Sowal
Oh, I did. It was so great, thanks for asking. I really wasn't expecting to be as impressed as I was, but those Royal Caribbean people have it going on in every way. It was most funn because of the large family group we had--all three generations and everyone smiling. I'm just glad we went the week we did...the same boat, same cruise as ours just had another one of those viral outbreaks, two weeks later. Yipe.

Glad you had funn on your cruise and that you missed the outbreak!
Daily report:
Breakfast: Yogurt
Snack: animal crackers
Lunch: grilled chicken sandwich on wheat...tea with splenda
snack: mandarin oranges, two tea biscuits
dinner: some frozen salmon crap
that mr. dd bought a while back, brown rice, mixed veg.
did well with water consumption
about to take a walk with Maggie.
Weighed: 5 lbs. down! Amazing...
Note to self: That left over mac and cheese is still in the fridge...better throw it away, cuz I'm gonna be lookin' for somethin' after that salmon crap!

^5 DD!!!!! (One for every # you lost!) I'm so proud of you. Sorry you didn't like the frozen salmon crap (and glad it wasn't on the list of foods I recommended! Was it Gorton's by chance? I have some of their salmon filets with lemon butter sauce in my freezer - tried another variety that wasn't all that great so the others are just sitting there.) I've since been buying frozen tilapia and Mahi-mahi - like them both and have found several easy preps for them.

Re: SoWell on Sowal
Thanks, my friend! No, it was some "bourbon salmon" I don't remember the brand, but it was crap. I only ate two bites, and Maggie and the cats got the rest. Ate the rice and a few of the vegetables. Just got back from the walk....Maggie and I are training for the Ididerod...I tell you it's a workout when you've got an 80 lb dog pulling you for a mile!!
