Re: SoWell on Sowal
Just a note that so far this SoWell on SoWal is working for me. I am watching what I eat (haven't exercised yet other than I'm redoing much of our house and I hear that kind of physical work counts as exericse) and in part I'm watching what I eat because of this board. Talking about watching what we eat online keeps it "conscious" and not so easy to fall off track. So, thanks. And I already lost the weight I gained from being in Italy and SoWal (e.g. from that Tuesday lunch and that cheese dip that I couldn't stop eating that you bought us Tootsie). Now, more to lose... class reunion, class reunion, class reunion in November (and of course just for the health of it).

Paula:
good for you girlfriend!
and how right you are. just reading everyone's sowell posts movitates me, and makes me think twice about what I'm eating. It's helped get my mind to the place it needs to be to actually start doing something healthy for myself. I guess this is self-motivation. It's too easy to just think about what you need to do, but never get around to it due to every day life and such.
now, that isn't to say that I don't plan on eating some yummy food this holiday weekend, starting with tacos tonight (we love making them - home made tacos are just the best). I'll try to limit myself on these - but will stuff them full of lettuce and tomatoes. I love food! help!

Re: SoWell on Sowal
A girlfriend just took me out to Rosies for my bday. Chips, Salsa, Cheese dip, enchalada, tamale....OMG....I am freaking miserable. I think I might be that way for a few days. We did walk on the treadmill here at work yesterday though for about 20 minutes.

Ok...I have repented and gone healthy once again. Chinese chicken salad tonight with low fat cilantro lime dressing. Mexican food shall not pass these lips again for, oh, at least another week!

Re: SoWell on Sowal
hello there DD. I had some mexican for dinner at home. it was yummy, but at least it was not complete with cheese dip and chips, etc. I've done good almost all week, so I don't feel too bad. Will try to do good the rest of the weekend....
have a safe and happy holiday everyone!

Re: SoWell on Sowal
let's go ahead and weigh in. may not be a good one, but at least it is a marker point of some kind. I'm going to weigh and take measurements of body parts. I've lost a few, but only just the beginning, so I would really like to measrue in inches and pounds. not that I'm doing very well this weekend....

Re: SoWell on Sowal
this is not too bad at all. no regrets! so, you had a funn week. I'm sure you are back on it today.
I am so pasta-addicted. as long as I stay away from it (and not cook it) I'm fine. If I cook it which I did this weekend, I eat it every day which I did...
and I'm not talking about the little 1/2 cup serving of whole wheat pasta either. definitely not a good choice. I must change my behavior now and stay away from the pasta (and wine). I resolve to do so, and I've said so in writing in this post!!! :!:

Re: SoWell on Sowal
I've joined the SoWell group...last week wasn't overly kind, although I did ejoy a walk every afternoon on the beach. Tomorrow will be detox day...I may hurt someone
Tootsie, I like the idea of measuring and weighing. Sometimes inches show better than pounds.
My goal is 20 pounds by November 1 requiring daily exercise which is my downfall. I'll keep you posted with successes and failures.People will forget what you said.
People will forget what you did.
But people will never forget how you made them feel.

Re: SoWell on Sowal
Diet..mostly low carb. I do not do well with tons of choices as I do not have a portion control valve. I do eat whole grains....exercise that is the issue. I will try to walk 4 days a week and do a cardo video the rest. I may even join a gym
Hate to waste money if I am not going to do it.
The school where I teach is implementing a fitness program for the students...EVERYONE will walk ten minutes each day and we will chart the progress. I am curious to see how it goes as we have a lot of children who spend their free time with video games or in front of the tv.People will forget what you said.
People will forget what you did.
But people will never forget how you made them feel.

Re: SoWell on Sowal
When I taught Kindergarten (yes believe it or not) all the teachers that wanted to gave $$ and then the one who lost the largest amount won the cash. Teaching is hard esp, if you have a younger grade b.c of all the snacks....I think that is a great idea for students as so many kids these days do not exercise....

Re: SoWell on Sowal
Good to meet you IBD... As for the job, snacking can become a real problem. My students laugh that I eat cheese everyday and have a can of nuts on the desk....and some dark chocoate. Only 2 pieces of it..unless it is really bad.
How long did you teach? Was it in FL? I good friend on mine just moved to Destin and is teaching. She got a huge pay raise, but the housing cost offset it.People will forget what you said.

Re: SoWell on Sowal
Dark chocolate.....yumm!!!!!!
I taught Kindergarten for 7 years and 6&7th grade (which was the worse 3 months of my life)
I taught in Natalbany, Louisiana. Small town? outside of Hammond, Louisiana. Loved it but pay was bad....The image in a mirror doesn't always reflect the conditions of a soul ~ LN

Re: SoWell on Sowal
What a great start to what was supposed to be a healthy week:
about 50 crackers with 3 different kinds of sliced cheese
pasta w/marinara and Italian sausage (2 platefuls)
a tiny bit of salad (for looks)
3 fat pieces of french bread
1 piece tiramisu
1 piece chocolate cake
1 glass red wine
plus picked at what Kate didn't finished
I am a P.I.G. Pig!!! I'm hoping that maybe I have a tapeworm because I am starving all of the time lately!

This is the day! Weight and meausurements taken
Long road ahead, but hope to make it work. Any recipes or suggestions welcomed. The greatest challenge is eating healthly when working long hours. Updates to come later.
