photos Grayton Beach July 7, 2005
Kurt, just wanted to say thanks for having such a cool thing going on with SoWal.com. It gives me the opportunity to share my photos of such a wonderful place with many new friends. This Guiness is for you.
-- more new photos in my album
These photos go out to everyone who will not be making it to the Beach this weekend.Last edited by Smiling JOe; 07-07-2005 at 09:48 PM.

Re: photos Grayton Beach July 7, 2005
I am narrowing the trail. Perhaps you could wave next time you see me so that I will know who you are. Wait, that may not work because too many unknown people tend to wave at me for no apparent reason. Maybe you could come say, "Hi, neighbor," then I will know. Wait a minute. That won't work either because neighbors that I have yet to meet say that to me way too often. Code Phrase: "I think the Beach looks strangely familiar today."

Thanks for the photos guys. It looks so nice and peaceful.
hhhmmmmmmm.
I agree with Joe, Thanks for the board Kurt! It really makes it easier to keep up with things so far away. And it's nice to get to know your neighbors ... that you could be standing right next to and not even realize it. Ha, the irony.Last edited by cassie; 07-08-2005 at 09:56 AM.

Just today, I picked up a hitchhiker on Hwy 98. He turned out to be a neighbor who I have heard about for two years, but had not met until today. Batton down the hatches.

Grayton is mostly desserted, everyone is at the Beach. Beginning to feel the frienzy in the area. Gas stations are backed up in all directions, and I had a report, from someone who just came down from AL, that intersections going north are backed up for several miles. I overheard other people on the beach questioning why the beaches were closed. Go figure.Last edited by Smiling JOe; 07-08-2005 at 12:46 PM.

Smiling Joe,
Few people would pick up hitch-hikers. I can just see you doing that (reminds me of my dad, a very trusting person).
Thank you for the local updates and offers to check on things for people!
Seeing that pic and your discription of what's going on at the moment makes me pretty sad right now.
I'll echo others in that this message board is way better than any media reports will be. Thanks Kurt & all.
Everyone please take care!
Rita

I cannot say that I pick up all hitchers, but I do a quick eval on every hitcher I see. Maybe one day, I will pick you up, when your car is broken on the side of the road and there is a hurricane quickly approaching. He looked alright (some dead people's famous last words).

If you had walked 50 yards to your right you could have handed it to me.
