Can anyone offer some suggestions for activities/events during the week of Thanksgiving? We are staying in Seagrove Beach from Saturday 11/18 to Saturday 11/25.

Re: SoWal Events for Thanksgiving Week
Yes I agree about the DeFuniak Lights. It was a great surprise for us when we drove up the first time to see. We took hot chocolate and made a funn evening of it.
Be sure and do the Saturday Christmas Parade that comes into Seaside. Santa comes in on the fire truck and turns on the town! They do a count down and plug in all the lights at once. Santa lights the Christmas tree, there is a band (behind the Seaside Post Office) and they have hot cider, hot chocolate and cookies. Lot's of funn for everyone. Be sure and wave at the grinch's in the parade this year!! My grinch wears a tiara and make up!
The Christmas tree in The Destin Commons is a sight to behold! Huge! Village of Baytowne Wharf is always very pretty too and they have carolers that walk around and sing the whole weekend.Last edited by Beachbummett; 10-01-2006 at 09:20 PM.

Uh hello...Christmas Parade.
Jfunn...Someone needs to scan in our picture from our Patrone's tribute float from the parade. Phead did the Mexican Hat Dance the whole way down from Tom Thumb. Maybe we can recreate that?"Let's face it: We live in state infested with rubes and rednecks, particularly among Alabama football fans."- Paul Finebaum

Yes -- We will be relaxing, shopping, stuffing our faces, etc...and we actually will be baking a turkey with all the trimmings at our condo. (It was the only way I could convience my wife to take the family to the beach for Thanksgiving!)
I did find some activities that I list below. I was also hoping to hear from some locals on bands or other activies scheduled during the week. I have heard that the Seaside event on Saturday 10/25 is awesome -- unfortunately we will probably be driving home by that time.
Rosemary Beach Website
Friday, November 24: Old Town Holiday - Tree Lighting, Santa's Arrival and Merchants Holiday Open House (6:00pm - 8:30pm @ Rosemary Beach Barrett Street Square and Town Center)
Saturday, November 25: Old Town Holiday - Breakfast with Santa (8:00am - 10:00am @ Rosemary Beach Town Hall)
Seaside Website
Saturday, November 25: Christmas Parade and Turn of the Town (4:00pm @ Downtown Seaside)
Alys Beach Website
Wednesday, November 22: Concert Series (6:00pm - 8:00pm @ Sandestin - Village of Baytowne Wharf)
Friday, November 24: Apres Beach (5:00pm - 9:00pm @ Alys Beach); Holiday Kick-Off (6:00pm - 9:00pm @ Sandestin - Village of Baytowne Wharf); Holiday Movie Night (7:00pm - Sandestin - Village of Baytowne Wharf)
Saturday, November 25: Christmas Tree Lighting (5:30pm @ Sandestin - Village of Baytowne Wharf); Holiday Kick-Off (6:00pm - 9:00pm @ Sandestin - Village of Baytowne Wharf)
Thanks for the feedback.
