D&K's Cafe Winners for the Christmas Post Contest!

I am pleased to announce the winners of the contest we ran for a Dinner for Two at our newly renovated D&K's Cafe. First I would like to thank all of you for participating in the contest. It was not an easy choice. I laughed, cried, and sometimes sratched my head at some. YOU all did great!

OUT OF TOWN WINNER.....MANGO for her wonderful story about the Feast of the Seven Fish. It truly was a Christmas story....showing faith, acceptance and standing up for your beliefs. Thank you so very much for sharing with us this wonderful tradition that you are committed to. May we all have something in our lives that we are this committed to. Congratualations Mango!!!

NOW, for the local winner....actually there were two local winners.

NO.1 Local Winner......HippieChick for her inspiring story of showing love to God's smaller creatures who are left alone on Christmas Day. How many people do you know, if any, who think about animals in a shelter on a day when families are eating large dinners and unwrapping hundreds of presents. What a role model for her children...and to us all! Congratulations HippieChick!!!

NO.2 Local Winner.....Supermom26.2 for helping us to remember our parents and what they mean to our community. The trash we may pass everyday as we drive through Grayton would not be there if her parents (Father) were here year round. LOL He would take care of it all, I'm sure. And I personally look forward to catching her mother working in her garden when they arrive here in January. Congratulations Supermom26.2

I'm calling my parents right now to tell them about their surprise! They will be thrilled! They are driving down from Michigan on December 28th. It usually is a 2 day trip. Please pray for good (no snow or ice!) driving weather for them. I worry about them driving in good weather!

Kathy, I always feel like a winner being associated and having property in SoWal, and truly appreciate the gesture.

I will love to stop in and see the new and improved D&K's when I get down soon, and I do not expect a dinner, but if you would like to share your favorite dessert with me and chat it up, that would be wonderful.
I am tickled that my story brought back fond memories for you and hope others found it amusing.

I certainly had funn sharing it.

Congrats to the winners! My husband and I decided not to wait. We had the most wonderful dinner at D&K's for our 20th anniversary. The oysters bienville are to die for. The salad was fabulous. Our entrees were delicious - soft shell crab - yum!!!! The restaurant is gorgeous. Kathy - thanks so much for a wonderful night. We had a great time and can't wait to come back.

Congratulations to one and all! It's been so much funn reading everyone's post. It really goes to show, the best gifts are not wrapped up in fancy wrapping paper and bows.
