Grayton Seafood Company

Grayton Seafood Company is a neighborhood gathering spot serving up tall tales and great food in the heart of SoWal. Owner Kenny Griner has created a laid-back atmosphere where you’re welcome to sit all afternoon sharing stories over a cold beer and a dozen raw oysters.

Kenny loves Grayton Beach, and he looked for a couple of years to find the best spot to turn his idea in to a reality. He took his time to make it right, because, he says, “We really want to cater to the locals.”

Inside Grayton Seafood Co., you’ll find rustic walls and ceilings. Vintage photos of massive hammerhead sharks, thick fisherman’s rope wrapped around rustic beams, and antique reel and rods give the place its charm. Galvanized metal light fixtures hang overhead, and old boat motors are affixed to the wall behind the bar that’s made from reclaimed wood.

The menu at Grayton Seafood Co. is full of fresh fishes and local dishes that you won’t find in every other restaurant in SoWal. Kenny has 25 years of experience in the industry as the owner of Chet’s Seafood in Pace, FL, and he can rattle off species of fish faster than Bernie Sanders can come up with free government programs.

“We’re gonna specialize in local fish and fish that people grew up with,” says Kenny.

Elsewhere on the menu, you’ll find the turf to Grayton Seafood’s surf. The 8 oz. filet is topped with sweet potato straw and served with asparagus, roasted potatoes and rosemary demi-glace. Bacon wrapped stuffed jalapeños show off the fresh produce. The fried okra would make any Southerner proud, as would the savory gumbo that’s as soul warming as the owner himself.

Grayton Seafood Co. also features regional and local beers on tap, along with a nice wine list. The restaurant is located in Uptown Grayton. Swing by for “Grayt Food and Tall Tales” during lunch and dinner Wednesday-Sunday, 11 a.m.-9 p.m. with Sunday brunch from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Sit inside or on the back porch under shady oaks strung with lights. While you're there, pick up the best beach t-shirt ever…seriously. Call ahead with orders and questions at 850-213-3683. Visit to see the menu, and share your tall tales on Facebook
