Chicago-based singer/songwriter Alice Peacock’s new disc, Love Remains, celebrates faith and human connection with buoyant, outwardly focused lyrics, feel-good guitar hooks and heartland grooves. Peacock found herself addressing issues of faith in myriad ways on Love Remains, on songs like the anthemic “If I Could Talk To God,” the rollicking “Real Life,” the expansive, gospel-inflected “Trying To Hold Back Time,” the punchy, resolute “Forgiveness,” the devastating, indelible “I Am Mary” and the timeless-sounding title track. “Can music change the world?/Yeah, I think it can,” Peacock sings in “Forgiveness.” Love Remains is a testament to the transformative power of love, belief and song.
