Tickets are on sale for Food For Thought Outreach’s 5th Annual Art of Giving benefit presented by Beachy Beach 30A and Porath & Associates to be held on Thursday, September 14th at 6:30pm at Churchill Oaks on the Choctawhatchee Bay. Lite bites will be provided by Cuvée Kitchen + Wine Bar.

In previous years, the annual art auction has raised over $200,000 and featured a variety of local artists. Food For Thought is excited to bring back all of the past artists including Justin Gaffrey, Allison Wickey, Justin Lyons, Chandler Williams, Matt Lyons, Velia Lala, and Marisol Gullo. Cecilia Haught will be representing last year's students and artists from the Kids Art Edition, and Food For Thought will be welcoming Melissa Mercer Brown as the newest artist to join the event.

“Food For Thought holds a very special place in my heart,” says Gaffrey. “One of the first large donation events I have ever held was to benefit this organization. My spirit has been uplifted by Food For Thought ever since to see the progress with their organization and the amount of people they touch in our community. It is an honor to be asked back to the final Art of Giving in hopes that the evening brings most memorable and generous benefit yet.”

Justin Gaffrey, who was featured in the inaugural event, helped Tiffanie Nelson, Founder and Executive Director of Food For Thought, get the auction off to an amazing start. Gaffrey helped raise $100,000 that first year and the event has continued to raise funds and awareness every year.

“This event has been a wonderful avenue to build a growing community of support. Support for the kids we serve, support for Food For Thought, and support for the arts,” says Nelson. “We are honored to have all our artists back for the final year and we’re excited to see all the new works of art on display at the beautiful Churchill Oaks clubhouse.”

In their seventh year, local charity Food For Thought Outreach has gone from serving 6 children at 1 school to over 2,500 children a week across 29 elementary, middle, and high schools in Okaloosa and Walton counties during the 2017-2018 school year and recently served 1,200 meals through their summer outreach programs. Food For Thought Outreach provides backpacks filled with healthy, easy to prepare food for students who are dependent on free or reduced school meals to help bridge the gap between school meals during weekends. Along with the weekly backpacks, Food For Thought also provides monthly snacks to teachers in schools receiving Food For Thought services to fight immediate signs of hunger, holiday services to help feed families in need during long breaks from school including summer, garden initiatives at select schools and at the Destin Pantry, and now the Full Circle Kitchen to help provide skills and additional sources of food to some of the most at-risk students in Okaloosa and Walton counties.
